Scholarships: I was told some wrong information three years ago, which is resulting in me not being able to really finish, I need the money and that's why Im applying for scholarships and taking this survey.

Campus Food: I wish there was a general dining hall, there is only Wendy's with enough seating and sometimes it can be a little crowded.

Campus Housing: I don't live on campus but from what i hear from my friends that do its nice.

Off-Campus Housing: I live in the Dorms, but when I visit friends who live in off-campus housing, their places are really nice.

Off-Campus Dining: It is great! There are a lot of options and most off-campus dining accepts Pete's Points, so you very rarely need to carry money on you.

Administration: They work well with us, but every administration has its own little flaws.

Party Scene: I have only been to two parties while here, but they were at the XC house and they were very good and a lot of fun.

5 College Freshman

Scholarships: There are a decent amount of scholarship opportunities within your area of study, plus the scholarship money you get when you get accepted to the university based on your test scores.

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: The dining hall over the course of the year has gone down in the selection of food, but the other places on campus to get food are really good.

5 College Freshman

Campus Housing: My RA is amazing, my floor residents get along rather well, the building is very clean, and the housing staff is very easy to get along with and they are very helpful.

Greek Life: They throw great parties but are also involved with the community. Prices are expensive.

Off-Campus Housing: Some very nice apartments to stay in but those are expensive. Others are poor quality and may still be expensive.

Off-Campus Dining: There are plenty of off campus dining places that are delicious and many are not too costly.

3 College Senior

Administration: Some professors get away with treating students unfairly and creating an educational environment that is hard to succeed in.

3 College Senior

Party Scene: Certain Fraternities have very fun parties! There are usually many parties almost every other weekend.

4 College Senior

Campus Food: There is somewhat of a variety on campus which is good. I am so happy they added Chick-Fil-A to campus. That was a very smart decision and one of the best food places we have.

Party Scene: I do not attend any parties, nor do i saty on campus on the weekends. I typically try to get in all of my work hours on the weekend.

4 College Freshman

Campus Food: We have a variety of places to eat, which includes the typical fast food places like Dunkin, Wendys, and Chickfil-a. However there are healthy places to eat on campus like Chop'd and Wrapped and Sol Cafe.

College Freshman

Campus Housing: I do not live on campus, I commute to YSU

College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: It's a little more expensive than dorms, so I don't pick off campus housing. But I hear that you're better off living in the dorms.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

Many local high school students do not bother applying to YSU because they consider it a second-rate college that's too close to home. These students do not know what they are missing! College is only what the student makes of it, and YSU will fully satisfy students who put forth an effort into their college experience. Many current students find themselves pleasantly and unexpectedly surprised that they are actually enjoying their time on campus. As time passes, more and more people are recognizing that YSU is truly a great university.

The campus itself is pristine and gorgeous; the landscaping is well-done, and the architectural structures are being renovated to project a modern, artistic look. Walking to class on a sunny spring morning, students often find themselves stopping in wonder to gaze at the flowers and trees. A lovely atmosphere enhances the students' love for the institution and even the subject matter in classes. An important advantage for YSU's students is the high quality of their instructors and professors. Most of the professors, staff, and assistants are extremely helpful, challenging, and engaging. Some benefits include networking with professionals in various venues, developing competitive skills, and utilizing wonderful hands-on experiences in the field. YSU provides its graduates with running leaps into the future for a price that few other schools can match.
