3 College Freshman

Health & Safety: The York area is a relatively high crime area. Campus safety makes their best effort to keep the campus safe for students and staff.

5 College Freshman

Overall Experience: York offers a great variety of classes. Scheduling is sometimes a pain but overall easy. Most professors know their stuff and are always willing to help. Class sizes are average making it easy to get into a relationship with your professor.

Overall Experience: The career expo offers a lot of career opportunities for students such as internships and jobs. It is easy to find yourself a job coming out of college because the college makes every effort to do so. You just have to want to do it.

Overall Experience: Easy application process and I was accepted the same day they received my SAT scores. The tour was very informative. Relatively small campus and everyone is nice and willing to help.

3 College Junior

Health & Safety: Campus Safety monitors campus a lot but the campus is also very close to a bad part of York City. There have been many instances where I do not feel completely safe while travelling on campus alone.

Campus Housing: Living in the dorms is a good experience because it forces you to socialize as a freshman. Beyond freshman year, living in the dorms is not really something that is sought after by upperclassmen. Northside is by the far the nicest building for freshman and upperclassmen that choose to live in dorms. It is air conditioned and a state of the art facility. As for West Campus, the buildings are pretty nice (except for Country Club Apartments... ew) but it is quite a walk from Main Campus. The walk between West and Main can also be slightly sketchy because you must walk through a residential area separating the two. York is currently a dry campus, which is frustrating for students above the age of 21. The on campus housing options are super expensive and over the top for what you are paying for. The housing lottery seems to screw over a lot of people every year and it can be difficult to get a spot somewhere you want, even if you have a decent number. IF YOU WANT TO LIVE OFF CAMPUS THE PROCESS IS A NIGHTMARE. The college does not want to keep letting students live off campus so that they can continue to take as much money as possible from the students. Basically, unless you come into college with credits, you won't even be approved for off campus as a senior.

Greek Life: I might be biased because I am a part of Greek Life at York, but Greek Life is the WAY TO GO when it comes to York. Without my sorority, I do not think I would be the person I am today. The sororities on York's campus are diverse and very inclusive. Everyone who goes through recruitment, whether it be Spring or Fall finds their personal niche that they fit into. Greek Life at York is very close to one another and there are no "bad blood" rivalries, especially among sororities. We highly respect one another and Greek Life is one of the best ways to get involved as a leader on campus. Many Greeks are active in other organizations on campus as well, and a strong majority of them are also leaders in those other organizations. It is a great way to meet a huge group of people who will welcome you into their own family. Non-Greeks respect and hang out with members of Greek Life often. Sororities have small on campus houses owned by the college and fraternities have no on campus housing options (they live dorms and apartments like the rest of the student population).

Athletics: Sports are NOT York's strong suit. Many students have never been to a sporting event at any time in their college career here. While the sports teams will attend each other's event to support one another, not many other students come out to games. As for school spirit, I believe that we have great school spirit. Our mascot, the Screamer, can be seen around campus at all events and is one of the identifiers of the college. The athletic facilities at York are really great. Our gym is state of the art and the pool is fantastic. We also have a variety of other fitness activities at the Grumbacher Sports and Fitness Center to get involved with such as racquetball, intramural sports, and the rock climbing wall. The Grumbacher also sponsors quite a few fitness classes that have kicked my butt over the past three years I have attended the college.

Overall Experience: I would say that York College is a mediocre school at best. While I have had a great social experience at York and I can say I left here a stronger person than I came, I would not attribute that to my educational experience received here at York. I think I have become a better person because of the people I met along the way. As a freshman there was nothing I wanted more than to transfer and get as far from York as possible. It wasn't until I met my current friends that I decided to stay and wait it out. York College does not seem to have very challenging classes for my major and a lot of professors will baby students all the way through a class. What York does have that is nice is a guaranteed small class size and an advisor who is not overburdened with a huge amount of students. You will get a lot of academic attention, but it is up to you to seek it out. If you are looking for a school that is big on sports, this school is not the one for you. Almost no one attends sporting events and there is no rival school for us to have friendly competition with. If you are looking for a school that will allow you to live off campus this is NOT the school to attend.

Overall Experience: York College is a good college if you are looking for the conventional higher learning experience; the classes are small, the campus is pleasant, the facilities are well-maintained and accessible, good professors are found in each department, and the overall experience is satisfactory. However, if you are looking for a school with students who will have discussions on Nietzsche with you, cite Camus, and recite Vonnegut - look for some other school.

Overall Experience: The career center is very pushy about looking at resumes, but every time a friend or I have sent one in, they are not helpful at all. The career fair is great, but specific majors should work on making internships specific to those majors available and well-known to students.

Health & Safety: I am afraid of walking around campus or near campus at night alone. I also think the counseling services have a lot of room to grow

Campus Housing: I enjoyed the on campus housing after my freshman year. Freshman dorms are pretty old and dirty. I moved off campus my senior year to save money

Greek Life: I don't think I'd join Greek life here because of it's reputation on campus

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: I think application being free was the only reason I applied

3 College Junior

Athletics: Too little space in the gym especially when teams go in as a whole to weightlift. I'd almost rather pay to go to a gym outside of the school.

5 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: York has 2 police stations that respond to the school if need be, and we have campus security! My campus is more safe than any other campus i've visited!

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: My School is the best and i am so glad i attend York! My classes are great, my professors are so knowledgeable and everyone in my classes know one another pretty well! small class sizes are so good for me!

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: You can expect to be very successful. York is very hands on and gives everyone equal opportunities and make sure that they aren't just passing but excelling in all their classes!

5 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: I don't live on campus but all the places of my friends that I have seen are so nice! so much better than the dorm I lived at last year!

5 College Sophomore

Greek Life: Greek Life seems really great and all the girls in each sorority are so nice and sweet. I didn't get it my first semester but I plan on going out for greek life next year.

5 College Sophomore

Athletics: I'm a cheerleader and we as cheerleaders at most schools don't get treated that well. But at york each and every team is important and is accepted and it's refreshing to feel so included with the other sports teams on campus!

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I love my new school and I'm so glad that it didn't work out at millersville because I would have never found my true home and some of the best friends that I could have ever made! The professors at York are so much better!
