5 College Freshman

Overall Experience: I like that the professors are very approachable and friendly and the students as well ,

the swim coaches and swimmers are fantastic and the academics that I going to be learning are in the top of all the best schools in the world

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: The best thing at this school is the professors. They take pride in what the do and look out for the best interests of the students. They genuinely love to help their students succeed.

Classes tend to be hard but there are many tools offered to help students, such as office hours, TAs, tutoring sessions, etc, all of which are great.

Courses required by all students are large but professors are still dedicated to each student in need of assistance. As courses become more field related, class sizes become smaller ranging between 30-50 students

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: The school is an advocate of project-based and group learning which effectively prepares students for working world. This is what puts the school ahead of most others- the requirement of students to work efficiently together, despite their differing views and backgrounds. The project-based learning allows students to better prepared for internships and co-ops.

The school is also a great promoter of Co-ops and internships. The school's career services put a lot of effort into advising students on how to get good internships and also obtaining internships for the students themselves. They set up many career days that have proven very beneficial to students as well as employer companies. There has been much success in getting students jobs for summer as well as after after graduation.

Health & Safety: There are police phone booths placed all around campus in case of emergencies. However, more often than not, crimes relating to students tend to happen off campus at off-campus parties and other such sites.

I personally feel very safe on campus whatever the hours of the day. But most of the crimes I hear about involves those who are under the influence. I for one do not drink or do drugs so that may be a factor of my safety.

Campus Housing: Although all rooms are priced the same as it pertains number of occupants, all the rooms are different in spaciousness and so pricing is not fair. Many of the rooms are ridiculously small and uncomfortable. Housemates usually tend to get along though cliques are often formed within. Common rooms and bathrooms are relatively clean.

It is incredibly hard to get decent housing at the school

3 College Sophomore

Greek Life: Greek life is known for their parties more than anything. But there are a lot of privileges members get just by joining, especially through networking.

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: The best thing about the school is the professors. All of them take such pride in their work and they genuinely love to assist their students. This is a great fete as the school is very fast paced, consisting of 7 week terms. Having understanding professors who take interest in their students success make matters much better. Office hours are one of the best assets at the school, especially with likeable professors.

What I dislike about the school is its lack of equality, whether race based, gender based or other. There is a female to male ratio of 1:2 as well 2% black population and 4% international. As much as the school tries to be inclusive of all beings, the efforts have proven futile and some students feel underrepresented and pushed to the side.

5 Recent Alumnus

Overall Experience: It's been awesome. I was a robotics engineering major and I became very close with the other RBEs. This was mostly because we all lived in the lab, but we all struggled together and we all formed a close community. The older students were also very helpful to the younger students who need help.

Health & Safety: Actually on campus is good, but beyond it can get sketchy

5 Recent Alumnus

Overall Experience: Engineering is a promising field for job options. I just graduated and most of my friends already have jobs. We have career fairs to help with this. It also helps for internships. I have already had two summers of experience.

Campus Housing: I lived in a freshman dorm then one of the upperclass dorms (Faraday). Faraday was better because I got a kitchen and my own room, and it was brand new so it was super clean. I liked it but it was too expensive. Daniels, freshman year, was less fun. Only one bathroom for half a floor of girls :(

3 Recent Alumnus

Greek Life: They do things, I am not in a sorority because large groups of girls scare me so I tend to avoid it.

3 Recent Alumnus

Athletics: We definitely have sports, even though we are seen as a nerd school with no athletics. For those who like it it is there, but most of us like to hide in our lab and ignore it.

4 Recent Alumnus

Overall Experience: I like the fast paced, 7-week terms. My favorite thing is that it has Robotics Engineering as an actual undergraduate major (this was my major). The hands-on application is awesome for building skills and helps reinforce learning. I would definitely come here if I had to do it again.

4 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Drugs and alcohol are only there if you want to be a part of it. It is easy to avoid. There will be alcohol at parties during the weekend. I have never felt pressured into drinking. Campus police understands that this is a part of college so they are only there to make sure everyone is safe.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Definitely look up your professor before you take a class. Most of them are good, but occasionally there will be a professor that isn't so great.

5 College Freshman

Overall Experience: WPI basically guarantees a job after you graduate! The project based curriculum definitely stands out to prospective employees.

5 College Freshman

Health & Safety: I have never felt unsafe walking around WPI. It is very closed off from Worcester. Even then, people say Worcester isn't safe, which is probably true, but every city isn't completely safe. I am just as cautious walking around as I would be in any city.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Housing is pretty average. You're able to pick your roommates. Sometimes you are in a forced triple but it isn't that bad. Strictness totally depends on your RA. Definitely would recommend finding a roommate on fb or something!

5 College Freshman

Greek Life: Greek life at WPI is awesome. It is the top 5 greek system in the US. Greek life does great things for the community and is seen as a very important and influential organization on campus. Definitely would recommmend looking into it!

4 College Freshman

Athletics: I am a varsity athlete and I love the support they provide for athletes. A good amount of people will attend games but it isn't the main focus. There are a lot of athletes on campus so it is fun to see people around who share the same interest as you!

5 College Freshman

Overall Experience: I love WPI! It's a great school with motivated people that also know how to have fun!

5 College Junior

Overall Experience: WPI has been a life changing experience!

5 College Student

Campus Housing: Home sweet home, really easy to blend in and live with your roommates.

5 College Student

Greek Life: Wild yet safe and responsible use of substances.

Most people who decide to come to WPI absolutely love the school. The small, welcoming atmosphere is wonderful. Students tend to like the campus itself, too; it's beautiful, especially in the spring. Occasionally, people dislike the workload at the school, but many people would return to WPI if they had to do it all over again.

The community at WPI is the best feature of the school; it's what keeps people there, even though the work is tough. Joining a club or a sports team is a great way to make WPI feel like "home." Even though students can be 2,500 miles from home, they can feel like they have family on campus, through involvement in sports and clubs.
