Overall Experience: The HERS Department at WSU is amazing! The professors are all great and you really get to know the people in the various health majors. The campus is pretty small compared to most but it doesn't feel like it. I would definitely recommend the school to anyone who is going for something health related and wants to be challenged academically.

3 College Junior

Overall Experience: I started at university of Minnesota Duluth but they didn't have a good social work program so I'm transferring to Winona in the fall and I am confident this will be a better fit for me.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: It's a diverse and packed campus. The campus is big enough, but yet small enough to feel cozy and welcoming. Everyone is very friendly and dedicated to doing well.

5 College Senior

Overall Experience: I love my school, it's a friendly town with friendly people and educators who truly care.

Off-Campus Housing: There is a wide selection of off-campus housing and ample opportunities to find a place to live.

4 College Freshman

Party Scene: The parties usually don't get too out of hand but they are very fun.

Off-Campus Dining: There are a lot of cute and cheap spots downtown to study and get coffee or grab a bite to eat, and student discounts are always an option.

4 College Freshman

Administration: The policies regarding anything alcohol or drug related are very strict and that makes me feel a lot safer in the dorms.

Scholarships: Winona offers a great deal of financial aid the the financial aid went well and helped a lot with my situation at Winona State.

Campus Food: The menus are really great on main campus, but the food on both campuses are always made fresh and there are a lot of healthy options.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: I lived on West Campus and so it was really frustrating to go back and forth between that and main campus for most of my classes, especially in the winter! Other than that, it was fantastic with the social atmosphere, it's a huge sense of community and very lovely conditions to live in.

3 College Freshman

Administration: not strict at all on things that are more important

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: Gets old fast and is questionable

Campus Housing: Nicer dorms=$$$ affordable dorms= far away

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: There are offices that you can go to in order to find places to live that are off-campus. Many people also post numbers and posters around campus regarding housing options.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: The town seems as though the bars kind of revolve around the campus in a way. Some are right across the street and others tend to be a bit of a walk, but the walk is surely worth it. Great food and drinks. A lot of fun.

Administration: This campus and university is amazing when it comes to security. Every student gets an e-mail if something happens on/around campus (i.e. assault, rape, etc.). All of the dorms also have a scanner that one must use their I.D. to get into (the only I.D.s that work are the ones of the students who live in the dorm).

5 College Freshman

Campus Food: I have never had such good food served at a school. Not only do you have many options, but they all taste really good. Also, there are enough options to really switch it up, so you aren't always eating the same things.

Campus Housing: I really enjoy going to this university, the professors are wonderful and very understanding, yet I learned a lot. I've been going here for a year (as a PSEO student) and I have only had one issue with the university; PSEO registration. It was a mess and always crammed in last minute (a.k.a. registering less than a week before classes start. Other than that, it is a great university.

Off-Campus Housing: The amount you pay, plus worrying about parking, is a big hassle for what dumpy apartment or house you are given. If you choose to live on-campus for a few more years, it is extremely expensive.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: Toppers offers student discounts once or twice throughout the school year. Also, I've ordered Domino's and Erbert's and Gerbert's more times that I can count.

4 College Freshman

Party Scene: Personally, I wish that our school didn't rely so heavily on drinking on weekends to have a good time. However, if you happen to know someone that lives off-campus, they usually throw parties and get-togethers. Do not drink in the dorms, and--as for frat houses--they are just one big, drunken, claustrophobic mess.

3 College Freshman

Administration: Winona is a dry campus, so it does not tolerate drinking--or smoking for that matter--on campus. Especially in the dorms.

4 College Freshman

Scholarships: Filling out the FAFSA takes time, but with parental help, it makes the process easier.

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: Occasionally, my friends and I take the shuttle over to West Campus because--as most people will say--West is best! Also, the convenience of simply swiping your ID for food at the caf and in the C Store is so easy!
