Drug Safety

{{ error }}
3 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: There is a party scene, but it is not what you are picturing. Most parties happen off campus in one of three houses and get shut down relatively fast.

4 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Willamette has a good balance. I do not drink or use drugs but I've often hung out with friends who do and I don't feel pressured at all, which is really great. It's also pretty easy to find friends who aren't interested in drugs and alcohol if you're not interested.

4 College Senior

Drug Safety: This campus is in Oregon so there is some marijuana use, but everyone studies pretty hard most of the time and drugs are not used that often.

4 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Alcohol, mostly. Parties every weekend somewhere in town, but barely noticeable on campus. Substance free dorms excellent places with work-conducive atmosphere.

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: There's a lot of pot usage

Like most schools, the most popular drug on campus is marijuana. A good number of Willamette students will smoke marijuana, but for the majority that does not smoke, there is no peer pressure to join in. While Willamette students tend to be pretty liberal toward marijuana, it is not visible on campus. Most people who smoke do so in their room or at off-campus houses. Harder drugs—cocaine, meth, and heroine—are very rare on campus, and you have to go searching to find any. The overwhelming majority of Willamette students will graduate without ever seeing any hard drugs.

Willamette is great for students who enjoy recreational use of marijuana, but it's also great for students who do not want to be around drugs. There is a good balance between those two groups. One nice thing about Willamette is that the University provides free substance counseling services for students struggling with substance abuse.
