4 College Freshman

Academics: Classes are small so you can easily meet with your professors.

4 College Freshman

Local Area: Uptown is pretty good for food, entertainment, etc.

4 College Freshman

Scholarships: I received a lot of financial aid so just apply for as much as you can early!

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: Sometimes, it's the same things over and over again.

4 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: People are very open and accepting to who you are.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Campus is pretty safe. Campus safety is always around.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: I'm not sure how the off-campus process works, so im not aware of what its like.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: It's easy to get around, but the school is on a hill.

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: It's hard to be in Greek life and also be a part of sports.

4 College Freshman

Administration: The administration keeps the campus strictness appropriate.

2 College Junior

Local Area: There is pretty much nothing to do in Whittier and it is so far from the freeway you don't want to drive anywhere because it takes so long.

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: There are some great places in Uptown Whittier that have decent prices. Pho & Roll is one of my favorite places, you get a lotos soup for less than ten dollars.

1 College Junior

Party Scene: If there is a party it is very small and everyone just gets wasted. Horrible music and no dancing whatsoever.

2 College Junior

Scholarships: The financial aid office does try its best to work with you but sometimes it gets annoying. I was supposed to receive a refund once and they gave me a lot of excuses as to why I could not receive and suggested I apply for another loan if I needed the money.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: It is a bit of a hassle to find off-campus housing because the rent is high in Whittier. Also, students are encouraged to live on campus for three years. The school offers off-campus housing but it is too far away from the school to walk and they do not offer singles.

3 College Junior

Athletics: School spirit is really lacking because it is only a Division III school, however the games are fun and I wish more students would participate.

2 College Sophomore

Scholarships: The school doesn't offer much. They only mildly reference you anything. Not the most helpful

4 College Sophomore

Academics: There is nothing to complain about. They not only challenge you, but are willing to help if you get stuck.

4 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: You are free to be who you want to be and see who you want to see.

2 College Sophomore

Party Scene: Whittier is a very old town, and so is its selection of fun.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: We do not have a college community like some colleges. We are part of Whittier's community and that makes finding a house more difficult. There are fewer options reserved for the students of Whittier College.

3 College Senior

Athletics: Athletics at the school are fairly popular, it would be nice to see more of the student body at these athletic events, our athletes do work hard in practices and games, they do deserve more of a local and loyal fan-base at these sporting events.

Scholarships: Financial aid does help a lot at this school, Whittier college is one of the more expensive colleges in California and even though you do receive financial aid be prepared to find other outlets of payment if you do not have the money. Grants and private loans might be needed if economic family contribution is not high enough to help pay for tuition.

Overall Experience: Be prepared to work hard and be studious, if you are looking for the easy way out this might not be for you. The courses can go from average to rigorous depending on the class of course. Class sises are pretty fair and students are evaluated through essays, tests, quizzes, group work, participation and attendance as well. Professor quality is really up to the student just like it is at every other college. If you want to put in the best work to get the grades, this is the right school for you.

Campus Housing: Only 2 of the dorming halls have Air conditioning, the bathrooms are maintained pretty well however the shower stalls are quite small and there should be stalls with locks in the showers instead of just shower curtáins. Dorms do have a hall on the first floor for leisure activities providing an above average social atmosphere for the students that live on campus.
