Campus Quality

4 College Freshman

Campus Quality: Campus is really pretty in the fall but that is only a few months of the school year. For the most part everything is covered in snow and slush and looks dead. Facilities are pretty nice, though some are older than others. Library is huge, the recreational facility is big as well and is nice.

5 College Sophomore

Campus Quality: We have good facilities, both athletic and student. Our library holds 'study nights' at least once a semester to help students study or write papers and pass out snacks and drinks. We recently went green so there are quite a few green spaces students hang out around.

Campus Quality: I think Western's campus is nice. It feels like a campus; water fountains, flower arrangements, buildings and big clocks. I really like the library, the new Sangren and the Bernhardt center. Most of the buildings are nice, some are out of date like Moore Hall but most are kept up well. A lot of campus events are popular like Bronco Bash, Homecoming and certain football games.

4 College Junior

Campus Quality: Really nice rec center! Gym with a pool and racquetball courts!

4 College Junior

Campus Quality: I love Western Michigan University. They could revitalize old buildings more often instead of just tearing them down, but with that set aside WMU is a wonderfully accommodating school for all walks of life. Plus, there are plenty of opportunities for jobs within walking distance or jobs on campus for WMU. The night life is spectacular and downtown Kalamazoo which is only a short mile from campus has festivals almost every weekend.

Western has some of the newest and most modern innovations inside and outside of the classroom, and the school is constantly in the process of constructing new buildings and/or improving on the older ones. Western has modern classrooms, the most up-to-date computer labs located all across campus, and a very well-stocked library.

When it comes to athletic facilities, the Student Recreation Center has brand-new workout equipment and is in very good condition. There are pools located in a few areas on campus, where open swim hours are always available. Facilities are cleaned daily, and the campus itself is well-maintained, with walkways and streets kept tidy. The University spent a lot of money on landscaping and sculptures, which can be seen all over campus.

Bronco Bash: Bronco Bash serves as a kind of "welcome back" to Western students. More than 400 student organizations, departments, and businesses participate, and live bands perform. It's a lot of fun.
Urban Legends
  • McCracken Hall is haunted.
  • There's a "W" engraved in the cement near the Waldo Library. Rumor has it, if you step on it, it will bring you bad luck in your classes for that semester.
