Campus Food: Compared to other universities, the food blows. The whole dining system should be more student friendly with more benefits.

4 College Freshman

Campus Food: I don't like how the valleys are closed on the weekends because I'm too lazy to walk to Valley 2 or Bernhard center to eat. I think they should add more healthy choices to the menu. I do love the desert they serve, it's delicious. I also think they close too early on the weekends.

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: Overall, it really isn't that bad after you get used to it. There is just a lot of repetitive food weekly and it gets boring always seeing the same stuff out week after week

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: If you live in the valleys, dining choices are limited. I end up eating a sandwich or cereal for just about every meal. If you live by bistro or burnhams, your dining experience will be way better.

2 College Sophomore

Campus Food: There are very few healthy options. There's a salad bar in the Burnhams but you can't eat salad for every meal.

Campus dining halls at Western Michigan are among the top dining halls in the state. There is a wide variety of options, catering to nearly every diet. The dining halls are buffet style, so you can always expect an assortment of options, such as a salad bar, a fruit bar, a wok, and dessert table; plus, these offerings are paired with daily entrées which can be seen in advance at wmich.edu/dining.

There are a number of meal plans available to students, such as Bronco Gold (unlimited), Bronco 20, Bronco 15, and Bronco 10, with the numbers representing the amount of meals a student is allotted per week. There are also meal plans available for commuters, some of which are numbered by visits per semester (such as the Commuter 100, Commuter 75, and Commuter 50). There are also dining halls located all over campus for convenience. Students are allotted dining dollars where students can purchase chips, pop or soda, pizza, and other goods.

Facts & Statistics

Freshman Meal Plan Required?
No
A freshman meal plan is recommended; however, it is not required. Depending on which of the dorms you live in, for instance, Valley I and Valley II, meal plans are strongly encouraged. However, some students in Valley III do not have meal plans, as there is not a cafeteria in that building.
