Overall Experience: There were some teachers that I did not learn well with his or her teaching style, but for the most part I enjoyed all my professors.

3 College Senior

Overall Experience: Honestly, cannot comment because I have not really worked with this aspects of campus.

4 College Senior

Health & Safety: I would say on average five crimes per year, which one is bad, but five is nothing compared to the numbers in Charlotte, NC. When I walk alone on campus I always feel safe. When dealing with campus police, they are always nice and genuinely concerned.

Campus Housing: Only lived on campus freshman and sophomore year.Lived in Buchanan and Reynolds. Both were wonderful. Had spacious rooms, but the hike to them was quit long. In each dorm everyone was social throughout the halls. Study rooms were regularly available. They were reasonably priced. I wouldn't have ever chosen any other dorms.

Greek Life: Average Greek life. It is not the main aspect in order to be social. Everyone socializes with each other, regardless if you are in Greek life or not.

Overall Experience: If I was given the opportunity I would never choose another university to go to for undergrad. Everyone was always friendly and welcoming. Making friends here was easy. The amount of outdoor activities is a strong character of the schools location. Overall, wonderful place to have been for the past four years.

Athletics: Team performance is okay, but could be better. There is not a lot of fan support. It would be comparable to a semi-small high school crowd. School spirit is great, along with the facilities!

Health & Safety: Whenever a major crime happens on campus, all students are notified as soon as possible through email. Special warnings and safety concerns from out emergency services department are sent out in a timely manner when needed. These things make me feel very safe and secure because there is such a successful system in place for notifying and taking care of issues on campus.

Overall Experience: I have enjoyed all of my courses so far. I haven't encountered one where I just felt really out of touch or unsatisfied. All of my professors have met my needs and I have been able to learn the material without any issues.

Overall Experience: I don't really know much about student career prospects other than everyone hopes to be able to get a reasonably good job with their degree and experience gained from attending WCU. I personally think that the value of a degree from this school is as good as each student as an individual chooses to make it. For me personally, getting a degree will be a huge milestone in my life because it will open a lot of doors for different opportunities in life. It will also make my family proud because I'm the only one who has gone to a four year university.

Campus Housing: My residence hall is a standard hall so it's average in just about everything. I have to use a community bathroom which isn't great because some people aren't very clean. I will moving to an honor's residence hall next year . These dorms are much nicer and closer to classes and dining facilities.

Overall Experience: I really like my school so far. The only downside is that the most affordable housing is a bit removed from the main part of campus so it's quite a walk to get something as simple as a bite to eat on the weekend. The housing rates are also going to be increasing and I don't feel too great about that. All in all, I'm glad I came to WCU because it is more affordable than either of the other colleges I applied to.

Overall Experience: The courses that I have taken this past semester were fun. The professors has something planned for every class and gave us reasonable time to finish an assignment. They are a lot of courses offered and a different variety, too. All my class were a decent size and sometimes smaller. The classroom has a great atmosphere and easy to discuss different topics with peer and professors.

Campus Housing: Campus housing has good options around campus. Each dorm is clean and has a good atmosphere. Dorm life is not always the best, but WCU dorms make as comfortable as they can. Of course the best options are the upperclassmen dorms as the worst options are the freshmen dorms (freshmen dorms are the oldest buildings on campus). Each dorm has a different atmosphere. Most undergraduate dorms are fun and social, while the graduate dorms are usually quiet (which is to be expected). Dorm life at WCU is fun and eventful which just adds on to the college experience.

Greek Life: Greek life at WCU is intermittent with everyday life on campus. Most days there is always a sorority or fraternity doing something on campus. Most non-Greek students on campus think that Greek students do great things for the community and have no negative opinions towards them. Greek housing is called, The Village, on campus. It is multiple houses that are set-up like a house but the rooms are similar to dorm rooms. The Village is a nice area and welcoming to students interested in Greek life.

Athletics: During games at WCU there is a lot of student involvement. Our student section is filled and dressed out in purple and yellow for our athletic games, especially football. The student and non-student support during a football game is incredible. I am in the Pride of the Mountains Marching Band and the band loves to interact in the game! We play pep-tunes, during half time we perform our show, and during the game we cheer on our team. This year, our team had a good season and played well. Athletics is a huge part at WCU and it gets huge amount of support from the school, alumni, parents, and of course the student body.

Overall Experience: My first semester at Western Carolina included a lot of wonderful experiences! From the Pride of The Mountains Marching Band, running through the catafount, and exploring the mountains near WCU. Western Carolina is unique due to that fact it is in the middle of no where, located in a no name city, Cullowhee. The school is surrounded by a 360 view of beautiful scenery. There is always something to do at Western Carolina. I would choose this school again and again. WCU has a fantastic marching band and a phenomenal nursing program. Their nursing program has had a 100% pass rate on their NCLEX for the past two years! Western Carolina University was my first choice and will always be my first choice school.

Academics: The curriculum is great. They give you a four year curriculum plan for your major that has the classes you need to take. The registration process is generally easy. You find your classes ahead of time and the numbers for those classes. When it is your time to register, you type all your class numbers in at once and try to get them. You should also have second choices. The workload is do able. It is challenging but that is what it needs to be so that you can learn. There are study groups and tutors that will study with you. Popular study areas are the study rooms in the dorms.
