Off-Campus Housing: It's great living off campus, you have your own space and privacy unlike the dorms. Most apartments are either on campus or across the street. The cost of apartments are a little pricy for college students, but still affordable.

Party Scene: I don't party much, but most people go to the Peaks.

Off-Campus Dining: Off campus is great for when you want something other than the cafeteria or "downstairs." There is a variety of places students can eat and the cost is fairly average. Most places have certain days for student discounts.

Administration: College students are expected to act like adults, so we make our own decisions (good or bad).

Campus Food: There are a variety of places to eat on campus for example, chickfila, mcAlisters, wich wich. It's great to eat at these places when you're just not in the mood for buffet cafe food.

Campus Housing: It's pretty great to live on campus. It's so easy being close to everything for instance; classes and the cafeteria. It's also nice to just hangout by the fountain on warm days/nights. Great views of the mountains on campus.

Off-Campus Housing: There are so many housing, the only problem I have is the cost of living at some apartments and that isn't enough one bedroom for students.

Party Scene: The parties at WCU is average, it all depends on the group you are around at the time. The frat parties have been popular and its not just the stereotype of trust fund babies but there are students who are hippie, free-spirit, sporty, nerdy it includes all groups. There are good vibes, I haven't been at a party where there was drama or a fight. All the parties I had attended was a lot of fun and everyone looks out for each other when it comes to driving and making sure everyone gets home safe. We all might not be friends but we are all family, because literally people care about the life of someone else.

Off-Campus Dining: There are so many different varies of dining off campus, and the environment is open and easy going. The people in the area have great hospitality, they are supportive for fundraisers and helping the WCU students and their community, the cost is perfect and discounts are available is some smaller local businesses and dining.

Administration: The university knows that students are going to explore, and try new things whether it is approved or not approved. WCU has made it to where a student won't be discriminated or judge based on what they do during their own time but they make it available for resources if they need help or guidance.

4 College Sophomore

Scholarships: The financial office is very informative and resourceful towards all students.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Food: There is such diverse in the food around the area, there is always great food and great vibes.

Campus Housing: I feel it is required for every student to live on campus to actually experience not just the university academics but the social and self growth. The atmosphere is open and everyone is so nice and ready to start new adventures. I haven't had a bad experience at living at the dorms except sharing a bathroom and shower with many females.

Off-Campus Dining: Sylva is the best bet for off-campus food, but being a college town most options include fast food; just about any fast food you would want. There are a few actual restaurants, and Tuck's is by far the most talked about. It's quite close to campus and their wings are amazing. On Wednesdays they run special prices; x-amount per wing. In Sylva, many students go to the Mexican restaurant by Walmart: El Patron. Their food is pretty good, but just be aware that on Saturdays during football season, it will be hard to get in for dinner without a long wait. Many places around Sylva do offer student discounts as well so be sure to ask.

Campus Food: To any upcoming freshman, my recommendation regarding meal plan is to get the one with the majority of DB and some swipes as well. For my first semester, I went with unlimited swipes and learned that I often had to miss out on eating at the other places because I was stuck at the upstairs cafe to eat. The cafe will typically be really good for the first week or so, but the options become more limited and suddenly the greasy pizza and picked over salad bar doesn't seem as appealing anymore. DB opens your options up to whatever your stomach desires. If you're feeling fast food: Chick-fil-a, Burger Studio, Papa John's, or Burger Studio. Some healthier options could be McAlister's, Freshens, Moe's or Which Which. And Einstein's has a great breakfast menu with fresh fruit cups, fresh orange juice and a wide variety of bagels. Try it all and decide what you like.

Campus Housing: Being that I am a freshman, I have only lived in Scott Hall. I would saying living there was okay, nothing special. The worst part about the dorm is just get past the couple of hot months when school first starts because there is no AC (pack your box fans). But, Scott Hall is also a great freshman dorm because of the few freshman dorms, it is the most social. There are always happenings in the dorm, which gives a lot of opportunities to make new friends. Proximity is also pretty decent because you are within 15 minutes of everything on campus (most things being less than 10 minutes walking away). The cost is one of the cheapest on campus, but like any other dorm, the room rate is still quite pricey for what you get (a cramped dorm to share with another person). And the housing process is easy. If anyone has questions, Residential living always offers to help with the process.

Off-Campus Housing: I will be living off campus my sophomore year so I don't have much of an opinion yet. However, I will say the cost is a bit high, at least for where I am living which is 808 West. The process was a huge hassle because they needed my financial aid information and it was a bit confusing. The apartments are right across campus so I can just walk to my classes. There is parking and I believe it costs only $10. The rooms look really nice and big from what I have seen on their website.

Off-Campus Dining: There are plenty of options in Sylva. Sylva is not a big city or anything like that but there are enough options I think. There are mainly chain restaurants and fast food places, but there are also other cute places in downtown Sylva. They do have discounts at some places, but typically it's only like a 10% discount. The cost of most places are pretty cheap. I think my favorite place has to be Bogarts. The prices are good, the people are very nice, and it is easy to find.

Party Scene: I'm not much of a party girl. I don't like going to party with a bunch of drunk strangers. I would rather go to a small, chill party at someone's house I know.
