4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: Off-campus dining is lovely. There are a lot of options that offer student discounts and half the time students can get a whole meal with a drink for about 8-10 dollars.

4 College Freshman

Administration: Underage drinking is definitely a big deal at Western Carolina and it is normally the freshmen that get caught. As freshmen the police and the RAs look for you to mess up.

4 College Freshman

Scholarships: IF you go about financial aid the right way then everything is a breeze. For any students that need financial aid then you need to apply as soon as possible before the money is gone.

3 College Freshman

Party Scene: I do not attend parties that often on campus because I work and try to keep up my grades. The few parties that I did attend had tons of students, a lot of drinking and smoking, plus there were a few fights.

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: The food is always GREAT the first week the students start school. When it is time to close for holidays and days due to weather are the only times that the food sucks.

5 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Living on campus has it's advantages. The people may often times be noisy, but it is never for too long. The students are all actually pretty nice no matter their race. Everyone acts in a close togetherness as if everyone was part of this big family. You meet the most people everyday and often times if you are paying attention then may be greeted by a smile by the people passing by. Along with all the great friends that you meet for a lifetime here on campus and the professors that actually are willing to go out of their way to help you the cost of the school is actually affordable. I love campus life!

4 College Senior

Campus Housing: I love living on campus! It allows me to be close to the buildings on campus, like the library, University Center, and the Campus Recreation Center. I can easily walk to and from my room to class. The CatTran is also very useful to get from class back to my dorm room.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: Most are reasonable cost, convenient if you have a car, some offer student discounts, not much in variety.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: There are tons of like exchange students! there are plenty of religious organization on campus

Overall Experience: Class sizes are generally small 20-30, giving you a chance for you to know your professor and for them to know you! The teachers are really understanding and will work with you 80% of the time if something was to come up. They are not just professors, they are real people and they do not mind talking with you if something is wrong.

Health & Safety: There are little blue call boxes all over campus, if you feel endanger click the button and help is on the way

Academics: I am an Elementary Education Major with a Minor in English. I absolutely love it, I love the EDCI classes and getting the opportunity to get some field experience hours in my freshman year!! Teacher and advisers are very understading and will help you with anything!

5 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: There are plenty of off-campus options and they are generally pretty affordable, cheaper than living in a dorm

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: I feel like Greek Life really is not advertised here as much as it should be

2 College Freshman

Party Scene: There are always parties going on despite the day of the week, I mean really who needs to study? You just have to be cautious, many on campus parties get busted and I mean if any party gets too big cops are liable to show, so keep it discrete. Even if there is no parties you want to go to you can always grab a few drinks and gather in a friends room

4 College Freshman

Local Area: WCU is located in Cullowhee, which is not even really a town, there is nothing here but about 5 miles out is Sylva which is a little town but it has places to eat and stuff. About 45 minutes away is Asheville which gives you tons of things to do. There are plenty of places around here to go and look at the great views, go hiking, go to waterfalls, and go to the river!

3 College Freshman

Athletics: People here are just really school spirited, the games are pretty good, but I mean this is a smaller school so you cannot expect too much

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: I live in Scott, which is one of the main freshman dorms. It is really fun, it can be loud at times, but there are quiet hours and they are generally enforced. There is 9 floors, 9th floor is the tallest btw, there are lounges, study rooms, kitchens and bathrooms on each floor.

4 College Freshman

Campus Food: Everything is generallly real good, on the weekend most places are closed and the caf has a poor variety

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: I think its about $16,000 a year here, I recieved $9,000 in grants and another $9,000 in loans, so the loans I have to pay back. Just be sure you get on at scholarcat if you would like to get scholarships, that was not widely advertised my freshman year so I did not apply to any WCU scholarships

4 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: Since WCU is in the mountains and it can be sorta cold, people are usually layered up but in a comfortable way. It is very common for students to go hiking, biking, and hamocking on any given day regardless of the weather.

5 College Freshman

Majors: I am an Elementary Education Major, completing an internship is not until my junior or senior year but taking classes such as EDCI 191 and EDCI 201 have given me the opportunity to go ahead and get some field experiences in the classroom and this is only my freshman year! They work very hard with you to find schools that are what you want and potentially where you would like to work one day, there are so many different options..

4 College Freshman

Administration: Just do good and don't be stupid and everything should work out okay
