4 College Sophomore

Athletics: Football is very important to everyone at the college. Game day is a very big deal and everyone tailgates before the game.

Health & Safety: I have not heard of any campus crime or sexual assault occurring during my time here.

Administration: West Virginia University offers various majors and they are very flexible. You can find an on campus job if you need one.

3 College Sophomore

Party Scene: There are a lot of house parties downtown. There's always a party on High Street.

5 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: Off-campus dining options include fast foods, such as Chic-fil-A, Burger King, McDonald's, Wendy's, Taco Bell, and Hardee's. Restaurants include Outback Steak House, Long Horn Steak House, IHop, Bob Evans, Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Cracker Barrel, Golden Corral, Chili's, Cheddars, and Texas Road House. Many of them offer student discounts.

4 College Freshman

Party Scene: There's a party almost every night here. There's always a frat party, house party, or everyone is going to the clubs/bars.

Athletics: We definitely have the best school spirit. The rec center and our football stadium are the best no question about it.

4 College Freshman

Greek Life: Frats throw great parties. Everyone hates the sororities though. The girls are kind of stuck up, and they are really strict on them.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: The food is really good, and it's not too expensive. Best places to go are Tailpipes and Jimmy Jons.

3 College Freshman

Administration: We have to check in at the front desk past 9 every night using our student ID's, and we have to check in our guests. Can't check anyone in past midnight.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: It could always be worse. I am currently living in Arnold.. No AC, dorms are small and out dated. Honestly the best things about this place are the elevator and the location. Newer dorms are farther away from downtown, and it sucks having to either rely on the PRT or walking to classes.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: I feel very safe on campus, especially during the weekends. Cops are everywhere all weekend long.

4 College Freshman

Scholarships: The scholarships are given to you already based on your GPA in high school, so it's a pretty easy process.

3 College Freshman

Majors: I haven't had an internship but I do plan on having one.

3 College Freshman

Administration: As far as I know the policies act as more like blurred guidelines.

3 College Freshman

Health & Safety: The one time I attempted to access the campus security help I was maybe 100 feet off campus and had locked my keys in my car. They refused to help me, but I guess I understand since I was not on campus.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: I rarely eat out to save money, but I hear good things about most close restaurants.

3 College Freshman

Athletics: I don't pay that much attention.

Administration: Parking tickets are overpriced an ridiculous. Especially when there are hardly any places to part. Need to provide for the 30,000 students.

Majors: Very easy to understand requirements. I wish the SOCA department had more classes tailored to certain fields.

Majors: I enjoy being in the PSYC department but not the CRIM department.

Party Scene: Lots of parties, mainly downtown. I wouldn't say it's positive or negative. Just a way to hangout with friends.

Local Area: Would not want to live here. Too much party crime. Not a place I would raise a family.

Health & Safety: Not too bad, some parts of the town are sketchy and can use some police coverage.

Greek Life: Can be more philanthropic and less "party-like."

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

Overall, students have made it pretty clear that they are really enjoying their time at WVU. Looking back through this book, it can be seen that WVU has garnered many high grades for subjects such as social scene, academics, and athletics. It is clear that there are many things the school excels in. The aforementioned are huge parts of campus life at WVU, and the students have said nothing but good things about them. While there were many high grades, there were a few grades that show the University could still improve in certain areas. It is clear that the campus dining services are not doing a great job pleasing the students, nor is the parking situation on campus. Considering these are two pretty important things on a college campus, the University should quickly take the right steps to move those two issues into a positive direction.

The attitude at WVU seems pretty split between academics and social events. While most students attend WVU with the expectation of a great education, there are a select few who come to WVU because of the potential party scene. Either way, WVU offers something for each side. With each incoming class comes the promise to improve upon faults and provide students with the best possible experience and education. The athletics program is on the rise and on the verge of gaining national prominence. The academic programs are showing promise as more WVU graduates are gaining recognition for their accomplishments. WVU is a student-oriented university, and should be considered by incoming freshmen who want to be treated to a great college education and experience.
