Overall Experience: I think that for a community college this is a good school if you want a smaller campus and more possibility for individual attention.

Overall Experience: The teachers are fantastic. The campus is really safe and I feel like the teachers care about the success of their students.

Overall Experience: I've only taken one class at west valley, but I really enjoyed this class. My teacher was very helpful and he was passionate about making sure everyone could understand.

Overall Experience: The thing I love about West Valley Community College is the teachers. They have been some of the most interesting and brightest people I have ever and they have a true passion for teaching. West Valley also has a beautiful campus in a very safe, affluent part of town which I enjoy. If I had a second chance, I would still choose West Valley as my first college.

Academic Flexibility: Their main concern was keeping you eligible to transfer within California, and never specified on out of state schools. The counselors knowledge was limited in transferring out of state, but she did go the extra mile and research the out of state school's restrictions and regulations to which classes transfer. It was just easier for me to get an AA.

Overall Experience: West Valley was everything I expected from sports to classes challenging you, but preparing you for the next step- a four year university.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: Overall, my experience was good. I executed my goal of getting an AA and transferring to a four year institution. The counselors are what really kept me on track. The professors really didn't have any impact on my success or failure in the specific course. The times classes were offered were sufficient, but I wish more were offered before noon, because they conflicted with softball practice.

Overall Experience: There were recruitment camps for transferring to four year schools, but no job fairs.

Online Courses: Most of the courses I took online were difficult, but that is a fault of mine. I don't prefer online courses because I like to interact with my professor in person, and emailing is not instantaneous most of the time. For the most part, the professors were organized, but didn't utilize the calendar application on the course, which I would've appreciated because I am a visual person.

Student Body: Not a great deal of interaction between students unless it had to do with a class. Students at West Valley are very focused, and the student body attempts to create a college environment, but most students work and are off campus as soon as they are finished with their last class of the day.

Tuition & Financial Aid: I wasn't able to receive financial aid because my parents make too much money, even though I was the one paying for my classes. I had to save up in order to pay for my classes in full, but payment options were available. I didn't utilize the payment plans, though.

Career Services: Since this is only a Junior College, the main goal is to transfer to a 4 year school to complete your degree. Attending a Junior College is a great path if you want to save money and work while you attend school. West Valley was great at accommodating the working student.

Academic Experience: The psychology professors are tough to connect with. There was no personal connection with them, and it made it difficult to ask them for help. Counseling kept you on track and gave you great advice and different options, if you utilized them. There aren't any programs that helped you find a job in psychology after you received your AA. The focus was more on getting you transferred so you can get a BA in Psych.

Academic Experience: The main concern with this campus is transferring its students to a four year, and it does that very well. The professors do their best to accommodate the working student, but I do wish they took their students' success more personally. I only had one English professor do that, and it made his class so much more enjoyable.

Campus Resources: West Valley College provides extracurricular activities and outlets as well as clubs and resources to help the transitioning student. The range of age in students at this campus influence a community that is accepting eager to assist anyone who is looking for help. As long as you are willing to ask for help, there is always someone waiting to answer your questions.

5 College Senior

Overall Experience: West Valley has been the best thing that has ever happened to me. That itself is an understatement.

5 College Senior

Overall Experience: West Valley College has a lot to offer, with friendly faculty and staff, great academics, fun people, and much more. Never hesitate to ask help because there is literally always someone to help you one way or another.

Student Body: I've only really been involved in extra-curricular activities on my campus for the past 4 months but people here don't strike me as generally super friendly, hard-working, or smart.

5 College Sophomore

Tuition & Financial Aid: I am currently on FA that is covering my entire unit cost. I love it! Also, whenever I go into the FA office, the people who help me are always super helpful and friendly.

Career Services: They have a career center where you can take personality tests and where job openings are listed.

Academic Experience: The teachers I've met in my major are amazing. They have really encouraged me to go as far as I can. The workload is heavy but manageable. I also really enjoyed the curricula I've used thus far.

4 College Sophomore

Academic Experience: I've had some amazing professors and for the most part I've liked the curricula that they've used. The class registration process is smooth and understandable. They also provide LOTS of resources for those with disabilities. My twin brother has disabilities so this is near and dear to my heart.

Campus Resources: I attend a 2-year community college. They are currently in the midst of renovating all the buildings. The new buildings are amazing but the old buildings are pretty antiquated. The buildings that have yet to be renovate include the library, art buildings, p.e. facilities, theater, a&r, counseling offices, and the disability resource center. It would be awesome if they renovated the library next.

Academic Flexibility: With there being so many classes available for the common core classes (ed: english, math, public speaking), picking classes to fit your schedule is a breeze. However, the more specific class you get (ex: Theater, Human Biology), the times and days they're available tend to get more narrow. Since I'm a first time student I have no experience with transfer credits

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I was very skeptical to go to West Valley. But let me tell you, it was a decision I will never regret. I fell in love with the campus and how beautiful it was. It's kind isolated from the outside life so it's not distracting because I never hear the city. I wouldn't call this school unique, but this only being my first year here, I can definitely say this is one of the best community colleges in Silicon Valley.
