4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: There are many apartment complexes within walking distance from campus and they're all very well kept.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: I haven't had to do off campus housing nor want to

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: I have friends who live off campus in apartments and they say the cost is nice and they are only 5 minutes from the campus.

5 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: As far as I have seen with upperclassman, off campus housing is pretty good. There are many places for people to go to, and it isn't that hard to obtain. Cost wise, it seems cheap to around average.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: It's okay but honestly not a first choice.

Mostly, those who prefer off-campus housing are within their last two years of school or prefer to find a cheaper place to stay. On-campus housing is known to be expensive, with dormitories costing $3,000 per semester (including another $2,000 for meal plans), so it can be too much to pay out of pocket. Webster Groves rentals tend to be $550 a month for a one-bedroom rental.

The farther away from campus you go, the better the prices are because of the high demand to live close to campus. About $700 a month can get you a two-bedroom rental in South St. Louis—more space and an oven and stove to work with. However, most choose to stay within a one- to five-mile radius from campus or within nearby neighborhoods like Maplewood or Shrewsbury to avoid large dependability on transportation. If you are planning to stay off campus, it's best to look around as soon as possible. You never know when a good deal will get snagged by someone else.
