3 College Junior

Technology: It's great that we are given a laptop, but the laptops are not exactly high quality. Mine has needed to be fixed twice, and the battery life is pathetic.

4 College Junior

Technology: Each student is given a thinkpad their freshman year and a new computer at the beginning of their junior year. The stinkpads not the greatest computer but it gets the job done

5 College Sophomore

Technology: The laptop given is pretty nice and light for traveling with.

5 Recent Alumnus

Technology: I never had any issues with Wake's wifi or with my ThinkPad (although it was extremely practical... and not very attractive looking). Some people had problems with their computers, but if you take care of it (i.e. don't drop it), you'll be fine.

4 College Freshman

Technology: They give students new computers after two years, so you will pretty much always have a relatively new computer. I don't use mine very often but everyone here uses them so I think they work alright.

Every freshman at Wake Forest is issued a new Lenovo (formerly IBM) laptop computer. This is great because you do not need to worry about buying a computer before you come to school, and your laptop will be loaded with a fantastic software package. Because everyone has the same type of computer, it is very easy to address any problems that you may have. The IS Help Desk is located in the library, which makes it hassle-free to bring in your laptop for a question. If your computer requires more help and needs to be sent out, Wake will provide you with a loaner computer.

The entire Wake Forest campus is wireless, which means that you never have to worry about getting a wireless signal. Additionally, there is a computer lab in the library that you can use if you do not have access to your computer. The best thing, however, is that Wake Forest upgrades your computer for free after sophomore year.
