Administration: Several issues have occured this year in regards to minority students vs. the administration. We have had issues with campus climate in terms of diversity and inclusion regarding race, ethnicity, and sexual orientation. However I will say that, slowly but surely, administration seems to be more aware of the issues and is beginning to take action to solve these problems and improve the campus climate of Wake Forest. As a minority student I can say that administration itself is not diverse and can seem intimidating and one-sided at times, but I think they experience more critique and negative comments than they really deserve.

Administration: Personally, I haven't had much experience with strictness, but I feel like the general concept is that if you are not making a scene, administration will typically leave you alone. Underage drinking is policed mainly by RAs who are obligated to write up underage drinkers. Police will help out with severe cases of underage drinking that involve danger to the drinker, but they don't seek out to get people in trouble. Lounge parties occur on campus every weekend and anyone, regardless of age, can attend. The honor code is taken pretty seriously here, but policing it is fairly difficult. Those who are caught violating the honor code will typically face fairly serious punishments.

Administration: Administration lets a lot of stuff go that maybe shouldn't be let go

Administration: Wake truly gives students their rights to freedom of speech when students approach matters in an intelligent, not extremely offensive way. As for alcohol and drugs, they crack down more on things that happen in dorm rooms then anything else. Trust me when I say don't smoke or play loud music at a pregame in your dorm room because they get more strict when it's obvious. However, if it's not, they are willing to look the other way.

Administration: Be kind and respectful and others will be kind and respectful to you. The administration is not out to get us. Usually if you're not being rude or obnoxious you won't get in trouble for things. The honor code is taken very seriously though but I've never found it to be troubling. Its not asking you to be perfect. It's basically just asking you to be a good person and hopefully that's easy enough for most students here.

Wake Forest rules can be summed up with the following words: "Don't do anything stupid." No one—not campus police, not RAs—is going to bother you unless you are belligerently drunk or passed out. The administration and campus police will tolerate controlled and responsible parties and behavior. People get in trouble when they are being rowdy out in the open. Be safe and discrete, and you will be fine.

Regarding academics, Wake Forest is very strict. A single instance of plagiarism or cheating can result in suspension from school. The Honor Code of the University is something that faculty, students, and administration take very seriously. You do not want to have to go before the Honors and Ethics Council for a violation. Attendance can also be very strict in class, and a lack of it can result in a lower grade. This really depends on the professor and class, but with mostly small classes, it is very obvious when you are not present.

Facts & Statistics

Students Are Most Likely to Get Caught...
  • Drinking underage
  • Making too much noise in your dorm
  • Parking illegally
  • Plagiarizing
  • Smoking marijuana
Visitation Policies
Technically, there are rules regarding visitation (which is no surprise considering Wake Forest's Baptist roots), but this is usually a non-issue, as these rules are rarely enforced. As long as your roommate is OK with visitors, your RA is not going to bother you.

  • Wake Forest students and professors take the Honor Code of the University very seriously. It is not uncommon for professors to give take-home or unproctored exams.
