Overall Experience: Small class sizes are nice.

Online Courses: There is a huge workload on in class courses. I would never take on online course because I personally feel I won't learn that way. I'm sure it would be easy because there is lots of help that my school offers.

4 College Junior

Career Services: We have a great career center where they host career fairs. This is held almost every month or so. There is always someone to talk to and they are always very helpful and answer all your questions.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: There are many courses to choose from with very intelligent professors with years of education and experience. Class sizes are average, not too big not too small. There is always help available which I think is important. I like the campus and professors and staff at my school. They seem to really take interest in students and offer a lot of help and out of office assistance.

Overall Experience: I want to become a nurse through the program at my school. I hear all sorts of stories how students will get job offers through the local hospital at which they do clinicals in because they spend so much time and learning there they are wanted. My school and campus are located in a convenient place close to a hospital and other health care facilities where I can work for my future career. Plus my college hosts career fairs.

3 College Junior

Academic Experience: There has been a huge adjustment and huge workload put on to me. I have had to quit my job and find a new one working less hours so I can focus more on school and bettering my grades. The curriculum anywhere I think is going to be difficult especially in healthcare, but my school offers a lot of assistance and help to students.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: I love my college. Sure it is stressful and chaotic at times. However, there is always help available if I need it. Most of my professors have been wonderful, and fun to be in the classroom with. I believe I go to a unique school where the staff actually take interest and time out of their own lives to help students better theirs.

Academic Flexibility: You can bring kids and stuff it's great for busy people

Community colleges get a bad rap for being below par in the academic world. This perception contributes to the people who tend not to take their education at Virginia Western seriously. Those who are willing to put forth the effort to get involved in their classes, join clubs, and get to know their professors and classmates find that their experience is both challenging and rewarding. Despite the stigma that surrounds Virginia Western, the majority of professors is extremely qualified and makes classes interesting as well as edifying. The student body is definitely not your traditional mix of students. People of all ages and all walks of life come to VWCC to better their chances in the academic and professional worlds. Regardless of your specific reason for coming to Virginia Western, the school’s slogan, “We’ll get you there,” is extremely appropriate.
