Academic Experience: The professors are always willing to take time out of their schedule to help a student who might not be doing well in their class. It's great because most professors know that the students should be doing their work and studying, but are always inviting to help those who are struggling.

Campus Resources: Virginia Western Community College's activities are always interesting and are always inviting new students to come to the activities they have dated. A lot of the activities deal with people who like doing new things and are trying to figure out what they'd like best. It's the best because it is always new things and there is never a week that doesn't have something going on.

Tuition & Financial Aid: Rating and reviewing tuitions and fees at my school has been great. The prices are very reasonable and very up front. The addministration in the financial aid office help students with fees, filling out FASA forms and any other questions that a student may need.

Career Services: Rating and reviewing the career services at my school has been very helpful. The career center has people that can and will help a student with anything that a student may need help with. If it's trying to find money to help pay for school or trying to find the school for them. They also have many different schools come and speak with transfer students. The school also have different job prospects come on campus to speak with whom ever is looking for a job while they are in school, or for later jobs, after school.

Academic Experience: Rating and reviewing the academic programs that my school offers, I think has a lot of different curriculums for many different people. The different processes for choosing classes, workloads and study options are very simple. For those whom have trouble there is someone there to help if help is needed.

Campus Resources: Rating and reviewing the resources in campus at Virginia Western Community college is wonderful. Staff is always willing to help a student in need. They greet students with smiles and go out of their ways to help people. When going to places like the student center to get help with writing a paper or trying to find a tuitor, everyone is always willing to point a student in the right direction. When going to the library it's nice and people treat others with respect, you can ask the staff for just about anything and they are happy to help, for example trying to find a certain program for homework, or classwork. Help is always right around the corner, so I give my school all five stars for campus resources.

Community colleges get a bad rap for being below par in the academic world. This perception contributes to the people who tend not to take their education at Virginia Western seriously. Those who are willing to put forth the effort to get involved in their classes, join clubs, and get to know their professors and classmates find that their experience is both challenging and rewarding. Despite the stigma that surrounds Virginia Western, the majority of professors is extremely qualified and makes classes interesting as well as edifying. The student body is definitely not your traditional mix of students. People of all ages and all walks of life come to VWCC to better their chances in the academic and professional worlds. Regardless of your specific reason for coming to Virginia Western, the school’s slogan, “We’ll get you there,” is extremely appropriate. It is widely acknowledged that most people are only at VWCC for a short period of time. Knowing this, the entire staff is dedicated to making your experience as memorable and fulfilling as possible, while getting you to the University you are hoping to attend or the job that you are hoping to land.

Virginia Western is nestled within the Roanoke Valley, surrounded by the incredibly beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. Roanoke is a fairly developed city with a decent downtown club scene, and places to shop and eat are abundant. The mountains provide an endless array of activities year-round, such as hiking, swimming, and boating on Smith Mountain Lake, and camping to name a few. Virginia Western is truly what you make of it. Take the time to make long-lasting friendships and get involved in the Virginia Western community, and you will find that VWCC is a worthy investment in your future.
