Virginia State University(VSU) is an excellent college choice with absolutely phenomenal professors and students from all different backgrounds. As a second semester freshman here at VSU, I must say, at first I was unsure of what to expect as far as campus life goes. When most hear the word "college" they think parties, homework, parties, parties, sororities or fraternities, and of course, parties. VSU quickly brought me to reality. Everyone here takes their college careers extremely serious, some practically live in the library! Not only are students here striving to excel in their respected field, but many of these students have no problem with standing up for what they believe in. There is inspiration everywhere! Virginia STate University, in a short time span, has taught me to be unapologetic in who I am, seek knowledge, walk in pride for my school, and has changed me for the better. VSU! I LOVE IT! I LOVE IT! I LOVE IT!

Overall, my experience at Virginia State has been an amazing one. Coming into college, I wasn't sure what to expect. But VSU has definitely changed me for the better. I personally thought college was going to be all about parties and not getting anything done. Virginia State definitely proved me wrong. I've never seen so many students take their college careers so serious! Many of the students are dedicated to making the campus a better place socially and academically. They truly stand up for what they believe in and it has definitely been an inspiration to me. In high school, I was a decent student but I had trouble applying myself to my school work. After a semester or two at VSU, my outlook on school definitely changed. After finishing my sophomore year there, I can definitely look back and say that VSU has changed me for the better. I would definitely recommend this school for anyone.

My top favorite experiences were getting a great tutor advised by my professor, getting interview for a leadership role for the upcoming summer, and making the Cross Country/ Track & Field team. What makes my school unique is even though its an HBCU college, it still have diversity. Also, the professors and staff are very supportive and hard working. If I had to do it over and choose a college, I would still pic Virginia State University. I say this because honestly I love this school! I love the environment, professors/staffs, classmates/ students and living arrangements.
