4 College Junior

Transportation: The transportation is very good around Villanova. The train can take people to other towns. The only difficult part is that things are really more easily accessible by car.

3 College Sophomore

Transportation: Things are pretty accessible by train or shuttle but train rates went up and the shuttle doesn't always run while needed. A car would be much more convenient.

3 College Freshman

Transportation: The on-campus shuttle is not very reliable.

3 College Freshman

Transportation: It's alright, but a lot of times you wish you had a car which you cannot have until you are a Junior

4 College Sophomore

Transportation: Most of what you need is on campus, but if you want to go off-campus there are plenty of options. Shuttles take you up and down the Main Line and around campus, there are buses to the King of Prussia mall on weekends, and the train can take you straight into Philly. Cars are a plus to have so you do not have to rely on the times of the shuttles and trains, but they are by no means necessary.

Villanova offers many convenient ways to get around without spending a lot of money. The shuttles on and off campus are a great service for students without a car who want to hop to the next town over. They are reliable and almost always on time, so students never have to worry about long waits. Transportation into Philly is just as easy, with two train lines and three stations around campus to bring you there. It’s under $10 round trip and under 30 minutes to the city. The only downfall is the city’s subway system, which isn’t well mapped out and can take a while to get used to. However, the regional rails running from the suburbs into the city are easy, cheap, and quick. There are also special shuttles that run to the airport before breaks, as well as a whole train line dedicated to traveling to and from the airport.

Whether it’s a quick trip to the bookstore in Rosemont or a night in the city, there are varying ways of getting there and an affordable and convenient method of doing so. Public transportation may be daunting at first, but within a week or two, you’ll have it down to a science.
