Technology: I've seen no problems with this.

Technology: My laptop broke over a year ago, and I've yet to replace it. The campus provides laptops and iPads to students through the library loan system, and there are plenty of labs available. The only major inconvenience is the cost of printing, as the one free printing location has been removed. When the price tag on an education is as high as it is at Vanderbilt, free printing is hardly unreasonable.

Technology: For the most part, you can use the wireless internet anytime, anywhere. There are some computers on campus but most people just bring their laptops.

Technology: There are computer labs, but they are somewhat limited since the vast majority of students have a personal computer. With the amount of work we do, you really need a personal computer. The wireless network spans the entire campus and runs very well and never has problems. You don't need a personal printer since there are printing stations and a lot of students don't have their own printer, however, printing on campus printers costs 5 cents a page so it can get steep if you are printing a lot of material.

Aside from labs being too crowded during peak times of the school year, Vanderbilt students have no quips with the computer network. The connection is as fast as anyone could ask for, and the network is well integrated and extremely functional throughout the school year.

As computer fluency has progressed at universities, the ability to be wired and connected at all times has become central to the college student's lifestyle. It would be feasible to be without a computer at Vanderbilt; it just wouldn't be convenient, especially as Vandy continues to introduce new services over their network.
