3 College Freshman

Administration: Honestly, it is fairly easy to get away with all types of partying if you choose to. Their are security officers all around campus and they will occasionally question you, but generally people do not get into real trouble unless they are publicly vomiting, screaming, etc.

4 College Sophomore

Administration: Sometimes I feel like administration can inconvenience students, but it is extremely easy to start clubs and have fun without the fear of getting in trouble. Administration listens to students more so than at other schools, and they tend to be strict in the areas in which they should be.

Vandy’s stance on strictness can be summed up by one freshman RA, who, when asked about his enforcement policies simply said, “be reasonable.” The University does a tremendous job of allowing students to alleviate their stress or repression in an environment where Vandy students can have a good time. Still, they can easily get help if they need it. For the most part, Vandy Police, in particular the VUPD Officers assigned to Greek Row, exist as a form of formal crowd control and will not step in unless things get really out of control.

Campus strictness will be on the rise, as Vanderbilt has made it very clear that it intends to crack down. Certainly, the days of standing on a frat house balcony and raising your glass to passing VUPD has passed, but it is not clear to what extent things will change.
