Overall Experience: Valencia is a school that has helped me to gain confidence and support for the career path I wished to take. Professors were helpful, interested in my needs and clearly wanted to see me grow as a student and individual.

Academic Flexibility: I was a first time student when I began at Valencia, so this is not applicable to me, but the flexibility of classes has been great. I am a server in a fine dining establishment, so it's relatively easy for me to shuffle things around in order to get a schedule (both work and school) that works for me each semester. I have yet to come across an issue with it.

Online Courses: They are definitely set up for what they are intended to be. Convenient, readily available and many professors allow you to work ahead. When I had a day off work, sometimes I would sit for 8-10 hours, looking to get as much done as humanly possible. However, I do not recommend them to students who are not highly motivated, driven and self-starting, as it is easy to put the work off until you realize the assignment is now closed (this never happened to me). The vast majority of professors I have taken online make themselves available, respond quickly to correspondence and want us to succeed. Many online classes have discussion boards, in which we can respond to each others threads to have interaction. I am a fan of online classes with Valencia.

Overall Experience: In my experience at Valencia I have found that with the smaller class sizes, most professors go above and beyond for students that aim to succeed. I have had professors that give out their personal cell phone numbers, so that they can always be reached. I have had professors willing to meet and discuss my work out of their required office hours and overall had a wonderful experience with 99% of my professors. I am also the student that is willing (and does) go above and beyond my course load, so I firmly believe that it makes it more enjoyable for the professors to watch students that really work for it, succeeding. The classes offered have met my needs for ym general degree. I would like to see a few more politically influenced classes on campus but I will get there, once I am done with the two year establishment after this summer.

Overall Experience: Unfortunately, again, I feel as though all of the above questioned is lacking in the majority of two year establishments, as an associate's degree doesn't go very far, when looking for a career type position. I have tried applying for a few positions and have been denied for lack of experience and education, but that will not stop me from continuing to look, while furthering my education!

Academic Experience: Unfortunately, at the community college level, I haven't been able to focus much directly on my major, as I have been focusing on Gen Ed's to get through the requirements. However, I have done so with great success. By the end of this 4.0 semester I'm currently in, I should have a 3.7 overall GPA which I am incredibly proud of. I was able to take one class that I felt was directly geared towards my international relations major. It was INR2002, with Professor Ryan Rilea. He challenged me to work to my fullest abilities and to never falter on what I know I am capable of. We had two tests (final and midterm) and three research papers that were staggered through the semester. They were difficult and forced me to pull every bit of my abilities from deep inside to come up with the grades I did. I have always had a knack for writing but when I turned in that first (what I thought) beautifully written paper and received my grade of a C. I was shell-shocked. I had never received a mark that low on a paper I had written but instead of backing down and running away, I stook up to the challenge and took it, head on. Wrote, deleted. Wrote, re-wrote and sometimes still deleted. By my second paper, I received a B and less red marks all over my paper. I was proud and KNEW I had it in me to please him with my abilities to write. So I pulled out all the stops when analyzing the Democratic Peace Theory in regard to The Armenian Genocide. It is a topic that hits close to home, as I am a direct descendant of Armenian refugees, fleeing the genocide. I cried when I finally received the A on that paper that I worked SO hard for. I am looking very forward to moving into the world of my major.

Overall Experience: I've had a wonderful two and a half years at Valencia. I came in as a 24 year old with huge dreams and goals and the professors and advisors have been incredible, every step of the way. The small class sizes helped me have one-on-one time with professors that I have created invaluable relationships with, that I wouldn't trade for anything. I'm almost even nervous to leave Valencia because it's been such a great experience.

Career Services: I have not had to utilize this service yet.

Online Courses: The workload is fine just like any other school. Online courses are pretty easy going, you have a week to do assignments since you don't meet in person.

To some, Valencia is an opportunity to grow academically, but to others it’s a place to relax and explore the academic world without any pressure from fellow classmates and professors. Valencia Community College is open to the overachievers and to the slackers. Most students remain at Valencia well beyond the two years required to complete the associate degree.

Valencia Community College is a small academic community that takes great pride in its students. It has well over 100 clubs and extracurricular activities. Many nationalities and ethnic groups are represented on campus. Furthermore, Valencia spares no expense; the school brings in speakers, philanthropists, and experts in various fields year-round to discuss various topics with students.

For those who are concerned about their environment, the school has great security on campus. Police are present, aware, and ready to help. Valencia will help you every step of the way, from enrollment to graduation and beyond. On any given day, you will hear of and see alums walking the many Valencia campuses, talking to current students about life beyond college. Valencia is truly a great place to start.
