Athletics: Varisty sports at Wisconsin are some of the best in the nation. The football team is going back to the Rosebowl for the third year in a row, the women's hockey team are national champs, the men's track team won the Big 10 title, and the rowing team has sent many of their athletes to the Olympics. The fans have broken national records with our attendance. Each workout facility is up-to-date and specifically designed for each sport. We work hard in school so we can play hard on the field. ON WISCONSIN!

Scholarships: I recieved a fair amount of financial aid, but it is a long process and somewhat confusing. You must stay on top of the filing process to be a qualified applicant. I feel like the best thing to do is have regular appointments with the financial aid office and get your parents involved. Free money (like grants) are out there, but hard to obtain!

Greek Life: Some Greek life is only there for guys and girls to get super wasted from parties and be obnoxious, at Madison a lot of this is contained on Langdon so if you want a party to get wasted at that's the place to go. There are fraternities and sororities that aren't focused on this but mainly used for community service, network events between frats and sororities and with outside communities.

Administration: I don't know too much about this but I have heard you get written up for underage drinking in dorms if its your 3rd or 4th time depending on the house fellow, the police are called and receive a fine. For drugs I believe for that you automatically get in touch with the police. Again I'm not sure.

Diversity: It is a very diverse campus. People of all nations, ethnicities and religions attend here and the staff is very diverse as well. There are many poor Midwest students here as well along with other students whose parents are very well off financially.

Campus Quality: All of the libraries, athletic centers and study areas are pretty modern and very nice but some of the classrooms are pretty old and could be updated, particularly some of the lecture halls.

Transportation: UW-Madison is a very large college campus and therefore needs public transportation when it is necessary. The buses are constantly running, the university buses are free and we are given a free card for the city buses.

4 College Freshman

Campus Quality: There's a vast array of possible majors spanning nearly every possible subject. There are also many research opportunities and many employment possibilities.

5 College Sophomore

Athletics: There is a way for anyone of any physical activity interest to get invovlved, from varsity, to IM, to club sports, to lots of random pick-up games, there in something for everyone. There is no fan like a Badgers fan on Football Saturdays!

4 College Sophomore

Weather: Being from the Midwest, I don't mind the winter cold, and I love having all 4 seasons!

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: There are a variety of housing options available. Newer dorms opened Fall 2012 and there is a new dorm opening in 2013.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: A variety of options are available. Plenty of restaurants are close by and the community is diverse.

4 College Freshman

Transportation: Free transportation available around campus. Decent local transportation around Madison.

Parking: The parking on campus is terrible. I would highly suggest not bringing a car to college, but if you do you will be paying over $100 per month in a parking structure. Definitely arrive earlier to try to look for places to park, and there is little to no possibility of finding a free space.

3 College Freshman

Parking: I've never seen anyone get a parking ticket, but finding a parking space is almost impossible at times. I've had to park over two blocks away from campus before because there wasn't any parking spaces.

2 College Freshman

Administration: I've never had any policy affect my life at all. My social life is nonexistent so I don't have to worry about that. They keep a pretty strict eye out for cheats, but a lot of the professors are willing to re-weight grades if they fall too low. That's not exactly fair for the students who work hard to get the good grades.

3 College Freshman

Health & Safety: I'm barely on campus. I can't say I've ever seen any campus police.. but I've never looked for them either. I've never felt unsafe on campus though. The place seems safe enough... No wet stairs to trip on or hazardous rugs to trip over. Things seem to be kept fairly clean, so my grade is based on the safety & health of the campus overall.

4 College Junior

Guys & Girls: Wide range of different personalty types. There a a lot of hipsters, both girls and guys. But its easy to find the type of people you're most comfortable around and stay clear of others. Sorority girls are stereotypical and I often find myself running into them as much as I try to avoid them. Its still a huge school though!

Academics: UW- Madison. Lots of challenging courses, but i feel as if I am learning a lot. For being a top the professors aren't what I have wished for. You get a few gems here and there, but I've had many classes where I'm learning purely from the book.

Campus Quality: Updating most all building and the architecture is beautiful.

4 College Junior

Campus Quality: My school has a great multicultural community that's tight and talented!! I love how big and beautiful it is and the different places you can go to do research or get support in your studies. Wisconsin has be building new buildings fixing old flaws and to be honest, I'm mad Ill have graduated before they are completely done.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: a lot of selection along state street, and many places to eat that are university run. Wish they had more of a large cafeteria style places to eat.

Off-Campus Housing: MPM is so large that many of their properties go along time without updates, maintenance, or general upkeep. Some of the places they rent out are totally gross and way overpriced

4 College Sophomore

Athletics: UW-football is HUGE. Game day is just a sea of red and "jump-around" is the most memorable thing Ive seen at a game that was not the football players themselves

5 College Freshman

Local Area: Madison is such a beautiful city, with so many things to do. State street is located in the middle of campus and there is always something to do on the weekends. There are also two malls near campus which is super convenient!

Students put a lot of time and energy into their undergraduate education. Luckily for those at UW, many feel it has been a positive experience. The college atmosphere, expansive campus, and intense academics are only some of the reasons students enjoy UW so much. Students feel they are able to form relationships with other students, as well as their professors. Furthermore, UW leaves them prepared for their future.

An individual’s undergraduate experience is one of the most exciting times in their lives. It is often the first time they are away from parents and making serious decisions about their future. Therefore, it is essential to pick the best university to spend these busy years at. UW offers amazing academics, an inviting atmosphere, and energetic student body. Its location geographically makes it comfortable as well as gorgeous. The facilities are very accommodating, as is the transportation system. Though like any school, there are things that can be improved upon or changed. Parking remains a prevalent issue, for instance. Fortunately, though, issues such as diversity and improvements to the quality of the dorm food are being addressed. Students generally leave the school feeling satisfied and prepared for what’s to come. Wherever you decide to spend your undergraduate years, definitely consider the University of Wisconsin as a practical, exciting, and fulfilling option.
