Transportation: London transit is the worst. I can't count the number of times that a bus has driven passed me because "there is not enough space" or "doesn't pick up this location" even though there are 7-8 empty spots on the bus, or the bus mustang express infront stops for us. LONDON TRANSIT IS THE MOST UNRELIABLE FORM OF TRANSIT...

Party Scene: Great Nightlife.
All bars all good except JBRs, NEVER GO TO JBRs, WORST BAR EVER, Bad Service, Ass**** Bouncers, and Overpriced drinks NEVER, I Repeat, Never go To JBRs.

Off-Campus Dining: Foodies will be greatly surprised by what London has to offer, especially Downtown near the bars. The after-bar options are vast and hometown favorites include Prince Alberts, Sammy's Souvlaki, and Stobie's Pizza (to name a few on Richmond). Prices and value are fair, and student discounts can be found at many places around campus.

Party Scene: Nightlife in London is always a good time. Whether you head down Richmond for the night or attend the multitude of keggers and house parties near campus, you're bound to have an unforgettable night. Downtown is located a short distance down Richmond from the university and transportation is relied on either taxi or the bus system (LTC) which is relatively good.

Campus Housing: With various options of residency, there is an ideal dorm for most students. Students that would like a party friendly dorm can opt/ask to be placed within one of the more 'loose' residences such as "The Zoo" (Saugeen-Maitland). there are also dorms located closer to the classroom buildings. Cafeteria options are vast among most dorms and fair among others. Multiple Tim Hortons are located throughout the campus as well as many other notable eateries. Social atmosphere is excellent at UWO, which is why student satisfaction is rated consistently among the highest in Canada.

Health & Safety: I don't think I can remember any crime happening on campus yet. I mean, some computers have gotten stolen if you leave them alone in the library while you go have lunch, but besides that campus is very safe. In fact, getting your cellphone or laptop stolen is extremely rare. I once forgot my brand new Sony Experia phone at a coffee place in the university and someone dropped it off for me at the front desk of the library.
You're definitely safe. Just use common sense.

Technology: The biggest problem with computers at The University of Western Ontario is finding one that is free. Usually the library is packed and finding a school computer available is not easy. Most people carry around their laptops and then the biggest issue becomes finding plugs! Some classrooms will have only a couple of plugs so you have to hunt for them, but if you're in the library, each table and cubicle usually have a working plug so it's not a big issue. Another problem we had in past years was accessing wireless internet. There was actually a joke made for april fools day on the student newspaper that read "Mysterie of the day: Western Student connects to the school's wireless network succesfully!", but I think this year they have been working on that problem and it is much better.
Finally, printing is actually very simple on campus, there are special computers to open up the files you need to print which are always available and for less than 50 cents you can usually print an 8 page lecture. So that is pretty good :).

Athletics: At The University of Western Ontario, there are many ways to be involved in sports teams regardless of your skill level. I mean, you can get into an intermural team or a club and you will not need much experience, but if you want to get into a Varsity team you will need to know your sport!
People at the university have excellent team spirit. Even on an every day scenario you can see people sporting their UWO shirts, sweaters, backpacks, and water bottles. We sure are purple proud!
It is sometimes hard for most students to get involved because of school work, but it is definitely doable.
The athletic facilities are excellent. If you need proof, you just have to walk over to the rec center and take a look at the pool, which I understand is about 50cm short of being under olympic standards. Any sport you're interested in you can practice at school. From karate to fencing and soccer, the facilities and the teams are there for you to join.

Off-Campus Dining: Fast Food, and Still Fast Food. If you do not want to spend much much more to go the restaurants, then fast food is probably the only choice you can have. They are not too bad, but if you eat them all the time. Ohh...

Transportation: Buses Are the Best. Public transportation is really good in UWT. They have buses that come every fifteen minutes. If you need a bus to pick you up late at night, then there's a number you can call, and they'll come get you whenever you need them.

Academics: Profs Are Awesome. If you are serious, there's no how you wont be an A student in UWT. The professors are always there to help with the course and course-load isn't too much at all!

Academics: Everyone's Friendly. I came to UWT as a shy student, but the teachers and students being very approachable made me open. Now I'm very jovial. Students are very easy to talk to, especially if you have problems with anything

Campus Quality: New and Amazing – We have the best and BIGGEST student recreation centre in Canada. And at least 8 libraries. 15 Tim Horton's on campus along with 5 Starbucks and a variety of other coffee options. Our Student Centre houses a ton of useful resources and our beautiful big and cozy mustang lounge is a great new adition. UWO (or Western University as it's been rebranded) is the most beautiful campus in canada with ONLY UBC coming close to matching it's aethetics.

Athletics: Our record speaks for itself. Tons of varsity sports and tons of intramurals. A huge number of athletic clubs and great facilities.

Off-Campus Housing: Always a Surplus of Great, Affordable Housing – There are tons of options from duplexes, apartments, townhouses, ect. I've lived in an old townhouse, which was perfect for me and my 6 roomates at the time. My particular experience with that landlord wasn't great, but my new land lord is much more accommodating. London's housing bylaws ensure that you will alays have a great place to live. On another note there is tons of housing right next to the school as well as in the downtown core, depending on your priorities.

Greek Life: Well, Western is known already to be party school and if you want to party you can find them. I think that's a reason that Greek life isn't as prevalent because you can party with pals regardless. But if you want to go into a Frat there are a few around campus and they are pretty friendly to recruits.

5 College Sophomore

Athletics: Mustangs Team Top in Canada – Varsity sports is valued very highly at Western, this coming from a Varsity Fencer. There are lots of support from staff who encourage and hire the best coachs, physio and support team. The Mustangs sports team regularly compete in Nationals and international competitions at every division. Generally its a point of pride to tell others that you are part of the varsity team.

Campus Quality: Be in Awe of the Rec Center – The newly built gym/recreation center is one of the best thing at Western. The Rec center has everything I want and need, including state of the art weight rooms and swimming pools. There are also lots of optional courses that a student from as Tae Kwon Do lessons to Cardio kickboxing sessions. The center area of the Rec Center is also very popular as a hangout with lots of couchs and TVs. Membership is included along with tuition so be sure to go often!

3 College Sophomore

Parking: it's pretty hard for someone new to the place to find parking that doesn't cost money or won't get your car towed away but must university students can't afford cars anyways

3 College Sophomore

Technology: There could be better network reliability and it's really slow.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: There are a lot of opportunities available at Western, especially Ivey. It's a case based business school and before getting in there are interviews and specific courses that must be taken. Two years of school must already be completed and an eighty average must be maintained.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Joined clubs, made friends, went to parties, decent classes. Awesome student experience

3 College Freshman

Weather: Not Bad – usually pretty average weather. nothing to complain about

5 College Freshman

Athletics: State of the Art – Some of the best teams in Canada (especially football). State of the art facilities including brand new extremely expensive recreational centre

5 College Freshman

Majors: Very enjoyable, lots of classes for every individuals interest. great learning facilities and opportunities to volunteer in the field, even on campus!

One thing is certain: Western students love their University. Known for its beautiful campus and steadfast school pride, Western offers an "all-American" experience in a Canadian school. The campus is large, but it's easy to see a familiar face wherever you go. London is a fantastic city for the University, and the students truly run the town. Over time, the city may seem small for the more cosmopolitan students, but Western's school spirit for Homecoming and other rowdy days is irreplaceable. Academically, Western is renowned for its role as a research university and subsequently for its reputable professors. The staff genuinely cares for students, which is unexpected for such a large school. For certain programs and courses, Western isn't difficult in terms of its academics; as long as you do your work, you will succeed.

In the Canadian workforce, the University of Western Ontario has a stellar reputation. However, aside from the Richard Ivey School of Business, companies in the States might not recognize the University. Regardless, the school offers many opportunities that provide experiences that will make all students prepared for their future professional roles. It is rare to find a student that dislikes his or her Western experience, and it's common for many to stay for five-year programs or graduate school because they have so much pride in the University. Western is a great choice for those seeking a true university experience with an immense amount of school spirit.
