Facts & Statistics

Tips for Getting In
Have the appropriate ACT or SAT score.
Things I Wish I Knew Before Coming To School
  • Decide your major quickly-don't waste time switching majors.
  • How easy it is to apply for the many scholarships available on campus
  • If you want a college experience, you have to get involved early.
  • There are plenty of better, less-crowded computer labs than the one in the Union.
  • You can get all of your general education classes done at Salt Lake Community College for much cheaper and then transfer to U of U.
  • You pay tons in fees every semester; the fewer hours you take per semester, the more semesters you're here, and the more you pay in fees total.
  • Your student ID can get you discounts for all kinds of events and restaurants.
Interviews & Information Sessions
Student information sessions are included in typical campus visits. The information session usually consists of an admissions counselor discussing requirements, scholarships, and financial aid and housing. The information sessions usually run weekdays at 1 p.m. and Saturdays at 10 a.m.
Campus Tours
Campus tours are arranged through the Office of Student Recruitment and High School Services at (801) 581-8761. There are tours at 2 p.m. weekdays, Saturdays at 10:30 a.m., and by appointment. Ask about the U's student host program, which pairs potential future students with current students to show them around campus.
Overnight Visits
The Overnight Host Program is conducted by appointment. Call (801) 581-8761 for more information.
