4 College Senior

Health & Safety: The campus administration really keeps negative things quiet. We did have a shooter threat last semester and they managed to cover it up.

3 College Senior

Campus Housing: Spending considerable time in the dorms of friends, i can say the cost is not worth what you are getting or the overall hassle of the dorm life on a whole. Literally cheaper to live off campus in one of the apts up the road

4 College Senior

Overall Experience: This place is expensive, but the professors make it totally worth it. I love the entire science department. They are too smart to be working at this tiny college.

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: Our campus isn't a big party school, there are people trying to recruit, but I don't see a lot of people participating in there.

3 College Freshman

Athletics: In the few football games I went to, the was a good amount of students there, but not to fill the entire bleachers. The team was good, had good players. The athletic facilities look clean and well kept.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: The tuition is pricey, but now I am using more of the resources the tuition provides. I wish I was more proactive to the activites.

Athletics: We have a great team

4 College Freshman

Athletics: our facilities are very great and look pretty new except our softball field, which is soon to be rebuilt which is an exciting thing.

Overall Experience: I love how the classes are so small, which makes it easier for students to get more one on one if needed. Also, I love being a student athlete because the professors understand we we miss class due to traveling away for games and they are very good at allowing us to get back with them on topics we missed.

4 College Senior

Overall Experience: Online classes are a big help because I work full time and have a family.

5 College Junior

Diversity: Our campus has students of all races, creeds, and political denominations. I have yet to overhear any student talking poorly about any other students. We also have students from other countries who don't speak very clear English but are treated the same as everybody else and the staff is very patient and understanding when it comes to language barriers and the associated difficulties.

Academics: I'm only starting my second semester at the school but so far everything has been great. The administrative process which can be difficult was very easy and completed in a very short amount of time. I am a Veteran so I had additional paperwork and dealing with the school's Veteran's Program really helped smooth it all out and turned it into a very simple and easy process. The professors I've had, including general education, have all been great and more than willing to stop class to further explain concepts and ideas and have had no issues working with students to ensure the students maximum success.

Overall Experience: I came to this school because we moved from MA and this university is leaps and bounds ahead of my prior campus. This school may be a religious school however, all are welcome regardless of religious background. Though the school does require a religion class there are several that are general theology courses and have no denomination attached to them so everyone can take the class and not have to be uncomfortable or go against their belief system. The school also does a lot of events for the entire San Antonio community. The professors in charge of my major are incredible and are all very passionate as well as love their work which really helps the classes become deeply engaging.

5 College Junior

Overall Experience: In talking with several members of the senior class, most have already found jobs or internships through the help of our professors and alumni. All of my professors have a background in the industry and still have many connections through one source or another to help students find careers. They also strongly encourage and participate in local events and activities related to the major. There is an overwhelming abundance of opportunities for all students.

5 College Junior

Health & Safety: We have an extensive police force and they're also close by. I haven't gone a single day without seeing several of the officers walking around campus or patrolling in their vehicles regardless of what time of day or night.

5 College Junior

Campus Housing: From what I have seen of the housing and from what I've been told it's really great and all the people involved are helpful and always willing to lend a hand. The entire campus is kept very clean and maintained amazingly!

5 College Junior

Overall Experience: All the staff and students I've talked to and worked with have been great so far. Any administrative issues were settled and corrected in a very efficient and timely manner. The professors are all very passionate and engaging in the major I'm currently in and the general education professors have been as well. Thus far, Incarnate Word has been a really great school and their philosophies are apparent and stuck to.

3 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: There isn't that much crime on campus. When there is, the campus police respond pretty quickly.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: The courses I took had great professors and were easy to understand and keep up with. If you have trouble with a course, the professors have office hours so they can help you. I've only had one bad experience with a professor.

The University of the Incarnate Word has so much to offer. From the academics and excellent professors to the life-long friendships, you will not look back and regret coming to UIW. Most of the students really enjoy their experience at UIW. The friendships formed here usually last through college and beyond. There are also more genuine friendships since UIW is a small school, and keeping in contact with fellow classmates is very easy because you see the same people almost daily. UIW is a very diverse school, so it is like a "small world." The memories formed at UIW are endless.

The education is top-of-the-line, as it thoroughly prepares each student to excel in his or her desired field of study. The smaller atmosphere allows for more personal attention for each student. The relationships between students and teachers is very strong, and professors know students by their names because of the low student-to-teacher ratio. Sure, you will hear complaints here and there, whether it be about residence life or the cafeteria food, but keep in mind that everyone has different tastes, and nothing is perfect. Overall, students are very satisfied with their education at UIW and all that it brings them not only while they are in school but after they graduate as well. Professors and advisers make sure that their students are more than prepared for their careers and for whatever life may bring in the future.
