4 College Freshman

Majors: My career goal is be working in a clinic and one day find the cure to Alzheimer's disease.

2 College Sophomore

Parking: Unless you arrive very early to class, you will find it very difficult to find a parking spot on campus.

Local Area: San Antonio is the seventh largest city in the U.S.. The campus is located in an upscale part of the metropolitan. It's close to museums, parks, restaurants, and shopping. The city of San Antonio is noted for its rich cultural and historic scene, as well as its Mexican restaurants.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: Most students attending Incarnate Word are athletes, so they are a big part of campus. The bleachers are often filled for games and students cheering for the Cardinals.

Technology: There are computers in the library, but there is also a media center on campus, and laptops can be purchased from the school with loaded Microsoft suite. There is on campus tech support, open until 6p. It is easier to have your own printer, but printing from the library is not that expensive. My roommate printed 11 pages for about 75 cents.

3 College Freshman

Academics: It is very competitive, several students are majoring in biology. The best thing to do is to become friends with other students in your major and help each other along the way.

3 College Freshman

Academics: The professors are average, the curriculum can be long and drawn out. The workload for some classes can be overwhelming.

2 College Freshman

Parking: Parking lots on campus fill up extremely fast, and most times stay until around 6p. There is no off campus parking options, unless you are willing to risk getting towed or a ticket for parking on private property. Residents get to park almost anywhere on campus, but commuters are limited and often park on the hill which is approximately a five minute walk from main campus.

Overall Experience: I do not have any complaints so far, I've successfully finished a semester and I absolutely love my school!

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Most dormitory's are located on main campus. On-campus apartments. The social life is great, most dorms do activities to get everyone acquainted. Compared to other schools, the cost of housing is average. The only thing I do not like about living on campus, is the laundry rooms. The washers and dryers requires quarters, but you have to go off campus to get quarters, my suggestion, put change machines in the laundry rooms.

4 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: More girls than guys. There are several foreign students. Several great looking guys!

4 College Freshman

Weather: The weather in San Antonio is almost the same as the weather in Houston, which is my hometown. It rains a bit more than it does in Houston, but the humidity is better in San Antonio. It gets colder in San Antonio, slightly, but enough to be noticeable.

2 College Freshman

Campus Food: There is Chic-fil-A on campus, but their food is so greasy and they only serve five items from the Chic-fil-A menu. There is another place called Jva on the Hill, they have a nice array of fried food and they stay open until 10p Mon-Thurs. I have avoided eating at Marian Hall, the campus cafeteria, some of thei food is tasteless and they do not have a wide variety of food.

5 College Freshman

Majors: There aren't really many difficulties to enroll into a program, just express your major on your application, and you start that program.

5 College Freshman

Campus Quality: Walking around campus, you always see different groups hanging out, and because campus is not so big, almost everyone is acquainted. People are always in the Wellness center(rec center), athletes are always on the field or in the weight room, and mostly everyone hangs out at the greek circle.

3 College Freshman

Campus Quality: The only thing I have recognized as unique is some of the programs we have going at the school around holidays, such as Light the Way, Christmas lights are put on all the trees on main campus and are lite up every night until New Years.

4 College Freshman

Transportation: Everything on campus is within walking distance, but even if a student does not feel like walking, he/she can always catch the shuttle that runs 5 days a week from 7a to 7p.

4 College Freshman

Administration: Even though it may seem strict, it is logical, and for the better of the students!

4 College Freshman

Administration: Everything is laid back unless it effects student safety, no one is looking to get people in trouble, but if your caught the school has a no tolerance policy.

3 College Freshman

Weather: It's been rainy, but the library rents out umbrellas,

Diversity: There is a complete variety of everything imaginable, and everyone is very excepting. But not IN YOURE FACE extreme, so even if you're conservative you will feel comfortable

5 College Freshman

Scholarships: They're really great at working with on college and outside scholarships and working you're loans to cover what's needed

3 College Freshman

Local Area: It's in San Antonio, which is a big town, campus is close to down town and several campuses.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: The campus is close to a big mall, there are lots of apartments nearby ranging from high end condos, to semi trashy apartments. Prices are around 550 a month

4 College Freshman

Drug Safety: If you don't get involved with people that party, or just don't go, while living on campus you will be completely in effected, but if you choose to find parties and drugs, you will easily.

The University of the Incarnate Word has so much to offer. From the academics and excellent professors to the life-long friendships, you will not look back and regret coming to UIW. Most of the students really enjoy their experience at UIW. The friendships formed here usually last through college and beyond. There are also more genuine friendships since UIW is a small school, and keeping in contact with fellow classmates is very easy because you see the same people almost daily. UIW is a very diverse school, so it is like a "small world." The memories formed at UIW are endless.

The education is top-of-the-line, as it thoroughly prepares each student to excel in his or her desired field of study. The smaller atmosphere allows for more personal attention for each student. The relationships between students and teachers is very strong, and professors know students by their names because of the low student-to-teacher ratio. Sure, you will hear complaints here and there, whether it be about residence life or the cafeteria food, but keep in mind that everyone has different tastes, and nothing is perfect. Overall, students are very satisfied with their education at UIW and all that it brings them not only while they are in school but after they graduate as well. Professors and advisers make sure that their students are more than prepared for their careers and for whatever life may bring in the future.
