3 College Freshman

Weather: It's Texas weather so it's pretty bipolar but there's weather alerts always in the look out and if bad epweather are cautioned and warned to go find shelter. For the most part the weather is fair.

4 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Use of drugs is strict. Students tend to respect that and if there is use of them it's off campus or not at all. The students who are of age and do drink do it in the designated areas but are respectful. W

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: People are friendly and helpful. Cleanliness is important and make sure it suites your needs.

3 College Freshman

Administration: It is strict and police are vigilant. Most are lenient but when needed authority will be taken and consequences will occur if violation of policies.

3 College Freshman

Party Scene: Not too distracting but there are some around not too far or close.

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: It's around on campus. Have many events and available for most people if interested.

4 College Freshman

Academics: Very hardworking professors there to teach students everything they need. Quite challenging as well. A lot of work and expectations to help build character and teach you and prepare you for to your major.

4 College Freshman

Academics: It's great, many subjects and offer a lot of assitance. Professors there for you during business and after hours and even reachable at most times. Always active on emails and not hard to reach. Available when needed most of the time. Very challenging and expect a lot out of each individual and offer extra help.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: Everyone can be themselves and not be judged or lookd down upon.

4 College Freshman

Local Area: Plenty restaurants and shops around. Next door to a museum, the zoo and even a park and the river.

3 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: It varies on the person. You can't really just be judgmental on their looks you have to get to know them.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: There are so many people that are so different from one another. It's refreshing and scary,

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: I like the class size and the people I meet. The diverse cultures are interesting.

4 College Freshman

Majors: My career goal is be working in a clinic and one day find the cure to Alzheimer's disease.

2 College Sophomore

Parking: Unless you arrive very early to class, you will find it very difficult to find a parking spot on campus.

4 College Sophomore

Local Area: San Antonio is the seventh largest city in the U.S.. The campus is located in an upscale part of the metropolitan. It's close to museums, parks, restaurants, and shopping. The city of San Antonio is noted for its rich cultural and historic scene, as well as its Mexican restaurants.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: Most students attending Incarnate Word are athletes, so they are a big part of campus. The bleachers are often filled for games and students cheering for the Cardinals.

4 College Freshman

Technology: There are computers in the library, but there is also a media center on campus, and laptops can be purchased from the school with loaded Microsoft suite. There is on campus tech support, open until 6p. It is easier to have your own printer, but printing from the library is not that expensive. My roommate printed 11 pages for about 75 cents.

3 College Freshman

Academics: It is very competitive, several students are majoring in biology. The best thing to do is to become friends with other students in your major and help each other along the way.

3 College Freshman

Academics: The professors are average, the curriculum can be long and drawn out. The workload for some classes can be overwhelming.

2 College Freshman

Parking: Parking lots on campus fill up extremely fast, and most times stay until around 6p. There is no off campus parking options, unless you are willing to risk getting towed or a ticket for parking on private property. Residents get to park almost anywhere on campus, but commuters are limited and often park on the hill which is approximately a five minute walk from main campus.

5 College Freshman

Overall Experience: I do not have any complaints so far, I've successfully finished a semester and I absolutely love my school!

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Most dormitory's are located on main campus. On-campus apartments. The social life is great, most dorms do activities to get everyone acquainted. Compared to other schools, the cost of housing is average. The only thing I do not like about living on campus, is the laundry rooms. The washers and dryers requires quarters, but you have to go off campus to get quarters, my suggestion, put change machines in the laundry rooms.

4 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: More girls than guys. There are several foreign students. Several great looking guys!

4 College Freshman

Weather: The weather in San Antonio is almost the same as the weather in Houston, which is my hometown. It rains a bit more than it does in Houston, but the humidity is better in San Antonio. It gets colder in San Antonio, slightly, but enough to be noticeable.

The University of the Incarnate Word has so much to offer. From the academics and excellent professors to the life-long friendships, you will not look back and regret coming to UIW. Most of the students really enjoy their experience at UIW. The friendships formed here usually last through college and beyond. There are also more genuine friendships since UIW is a small school, and keeping in contact with fellow classmates is very easy because you see the same people almost daily. UIW is a very diverse school, so it is like a "small world." The memories formed at UIW are endless.

The education is top-of-the-line, as it thoroughly prepares each student to excel in his or her desired field of study. The smaller atmosphere allows for more personal attention for each student. The relationships between students and teachers is very strong, and professors know students by their names because of the low student-to-teacher ratio. Sure, you will hear complaints here and there, whether it be about residence life or the cafeteria food, but keep in mind that everyone has different tastes, and nothing is perfect. Overall, students are very satisfied with their education at UIW and all that it brings them not only while they are in school but after they graduate as well. Professors and advisers make sure that their students are more than prepared for their careers and for whatever life may bring in the future.
