4 College Sophomore

Local Area: I am from San Antonio so I am completely biased and think it is great.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Its okay living on campus. The washers and dryers are pretty old and sometimes mess up my clothes. You can really cook a meal of you own anywhere, unless you live in McCombs, but then you have to live with others.

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: They people in Financial aid are very helpful but theres only so much you can receive to help pay for college. The rest you just have to take out loans. Also there are not very many scholarships you can get for being a government major. So it is kinda of difficult to get any outside help besides loans.

2 College Sophomore

Greek Life: There are no Greek housing places available. Honestly, I have nothing against the Greeks but I feel like they are non-exsistant.

3 College Sophomore

Party Scene: There are mainly off campus parties and clubs to go to. Usually they are big parties and usually get raided by the police. I do not usually go because I am underaged. If I went I would be setting myself up for failure. Since we are a small school in the middle of the city there are not to many places to go and just socialize besides going to a club.

5 College Senior

Majors: There aren't many schools around this area that offer the nutrition program. The program is very small and many great opportunities for nutrition students in the community.

3 College Senior

Administration: Student organizations are encouraged to be active on campus.

4 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: Central Market is within walking distance which is more affordable, healthy, and delicious than on campus dining.

3 College Senior

Party Scene: There are plenty of places to go and for every scene and budget.

4 College Senior

Academics: The nutrition program is small in UIW and this field is scarce in this city. The professors are always willing to help.

3 College Senior

Greek Life: I dont know of any special greek housing it viewed as just another student organization.

4 College Senior

Local Area: Many places to go near campus.

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: don't know much about it

3 College Freshman

Athletics: Half the people aren't into sports

3 College Freshman

Overall Experience: I think I have a good chance of gaining a career in my area once I earn my degree.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: The university is very good but I just wish I would have done better in my studies. Other than that, it is great to have a post-secondary education at such convenience.

5 College Freshman

Administration: The school is very fair and handles these problems good.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There is great food everywhere.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: I am okay on living so I do not know about everyone else. They seem like they are living fine I guess.

The University of the Incarnate Word has so much to offer. From the academics and excellent professors to the life-long friendships, you will not look back and regret coming to UIW. Most of the students really enjoy their experience at UIW. The friendships formed here usually last through college and beyond. There are also more genuine friendships since UIW is a small school, and keeping in contact with fellow classmates is very easy because you see the same people almost daily. UIW is a very diverse school, so it is like a "small world." The memories formed at UIW are endless.

The education is top-of-the-line, as it thoroughly prepares each student to excel in his or her desired field of study. The smaller atmosphere allows for more personal attention for each student. The relationships between students and teachers is very strong, and professors know students by their names because of the low student-to-teacher ratio. Sure, you will hear complaints here and there, whether it be about residence life or the cafeteria food, but keep in mind that everyone has different tastes, and nothing is perfect. Overall, students are very satisfied with their education at UIW and all that it brings them not only while they are in school but after they graduate as well. Professors and advisers make sure that their students are more than prepared for their careers and for whatever life may bring in the future.
