Athletics: Most of the time people just talk about football and all the non athletic people just have access to the gym. There are basketball courts right on campus and the pool too, but things like a tennis court are far away from the campus.

Health & Safety: I don't tend to see the campus police but I have their number incase its an emergency. Also the campus has these yellow poles that can contact the police right away if you push the button and that are located all over campus.

Guys & Girls: You get I diverse range of personalities and usually guys tend to hangout with other guys just like girls. However that doesn't mean guys and girls don't interact with each other, they just usually tend to hang with their own gender. People who are social butterflies though tend to talk to everybody.

Campus Housing: Living on campus is fine. You are close to your classes so you get to sleep in a bit more before going to classes, meaning you don't have to wait for the bus to get to campus. Also you can get food right downstairs. Sharing a bathroom isn't bad either, you don't even have to clean it someone does it for you. However people on your floor might me loud and annoying at 2 in the morning.

Diversity: Its not hard to be accepted by the students. We are all friendly just a but different and weird. Making friends is easy you just have to make the first move.

Off-Campus Housing: There are many different areas to live off campus. The closer you are to the campus however the higher the cost, but as long as you live near a bus stop, access to the campus is relatively easy. Parking is usually included and the areas around are pretty safe. Even if get lost though, you can always look for the tower to find the campus.

Overall Experience: The school seems fine and have a high expectation, but the science classes are packed with a lot of information. Even though I've studied, done all the work, ask my classmates for help and gone to office hours I still don't get the grade that I want. The college is fun and weird. There seems to be something going on all the time and its really exciting. However the cost to going there is really high and seeing my gpa right now I see that I should have started at a different college and worked my way up.

Campus Quality: Just the overall experience you receive makes my university unique. It's very diverse and you get to meet people and learn about their cultures. There is a lot of opportunities to gain academic knowledge as well as gain knowledge and experience through the many organizations. You also get a chance to do study abroad which is a great start on exploring the world and being able to experience different atmospheres.

Academics: I am a Human Development and Family Science major and I enjoy it very much. The workload isn't difficult and you get an opportunity to learn about individual types of people and families as well as learning how to improve your own. It provides many chances to go deeper into the major by offering research and practicums. You get hands on experience in a field that interests you that may improve your knowledge and prepare you for post-graduation.

Academics: You get a list of classes that is required for you to take and most of them you can choose when you want to take them. The registration process runs smoothly and all of the professors are nice.

Administration: The campus strictness towards the dorms are pretty fair. Not having visitors after a certain time, having resident assistants check dorm rooms, and just monitoring the halls in general are mostly for the safety of the students.

Health & Safety: Although we are a diverse university, there have been some instances were there has been challenges between different cultures. The police/president of the university try and fix the issues but it is more so done by the students. I feel that it is slightly more important for students to stand up for what they believe in and try to make a difference.

Off-Campus Housing: Most students tend to flock to off-campus housing in West Campus, which tends to be expensive and loud. There are options further from campus, but some areas are a little sketchy in exchange for being less expensive.

Guys & Girls: It seems as though with a population as diverse as the one at UT, there's someone for everyone.

Campus Housing: People that I have seen reviewing campus housing tend to say that they haven't even lived on campus; how fair is that? I seem to be of the dissenting opinion. I love living on campus. I live in the large all-women residence hall, Kinsolving. I have really loved getting to know the girls living with me and the sense of community there. There are several events a week for residents to participate in, and they try to cater to pretty much every girl's interests. It is a bit cost-prohibitive to live on campus, but you pay for convenience. The staff are extremely helpful as well.

Off-Campus Dining: There are quite a few places off-campus that are still within walking distance. There seems to be everything from fast food chains to ethnic cuisine. I'm very pleased with the variety.

Guys & Girls: The girls are gorgeous to say the least. They usually dress comfortably as well.

Health & Safety: I have yet to be in the situation where I need to visit the Health & Safety center, but I've only heard good things about the place.

3 College Freshman

Technology: I own a laptop, but I've seen plenty of on campus computers that were available for use for students.

3 College Freshman

Weather: It's usually extremely hot, which can make walking to class miserable, but it isn't all that bad. Not too much of a problem.

5 College Freshman

Campus Quality: People are extremely friendly and open-minded! People can do whatever they want without the fear of being judged.

Campus Quality: There are programs for just about anything! I love it! Keeps everything diverse!

Scholarships: I was fortunate to receive financial aid, but no scholarships that the university was able to offer.

Most students agree that they have loved their time here at UT, and they wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. College is the best time of your life, and I can’t think of a better place to spend it than at the University of Texas. Students get a great education while having an awesome college town with everything at their disposal. Don’t try to graduate early. Enjoy your time at UT—go cheer on the Longhorns at all the home games for all sports: football, basketball, baseball, intramurals. See the amenities that the Forty Acres has to offer—the Harry Ransom Center, go to our libraries and see our more than eight million volumes. Go to Gregory Gym and the Rec Center—you have a free gym membership for four years or more—use it.

I came to UT convinced that I was going to transfer to a school in California in the spring. I spent two days here before school started and I never wanted to leave, even to go home and visit my parents and high school friends! I couldn’t leave because I was always afraid that I would miss something because there was always something exciting going on. If you are worried about the fact that UT is so big, don’t. All you have to do is find your niche, and everything else should fall into place. You can find it within your dorm, apartment, organization, fraternity, sorority, or classmates. Although, at times, it may seem overwhelming, UT is not nearly as big as it sounds. All you have to do is make friends, which you will, and the campus will seem infinitely smaller. Come join us!
