Transportation: I've heard it's very accessible and always on schedule.

Health & Safety: The campus feels very safe and nothing seems threatening.

4 College Freshman

Drug Safety: There are smoke shops and bars around campus and there are numerous students that are underage drinkers, but UTPD can be very effective at keeping order and keeping the campus safe.

Technology: UT cares about maintaining the tech and does so very well, most of the time. The PCL is often very crowded and noisy at times, I found another computer lab where one doesn't need to wait was MUCH quieter. UT has the labs, it is just a matter of finding them.

Guys & Girls: You WILL find every type of person under the sun at UT. The school life and the diversity are outstanding.

Off-Campus Dining: While on campus dining might seem somewhat constricted to Taco Bell, Wendy's, and Zen, there are so many choices off campus that by far make up for the shortfall.

Campus Quality: There are no shortage of trees on campus which can be very nice. but sometimes I feel that the campus could have been planned out better since I see many a dirt trail to get to places that are more convenient than the sidewalk.

Campus Quality: Although UT has a lot of money they have no idea what to do with, some facilities are vastly outdated. Newer buildings have the latest tech, which is awesome, but I wish that UT would update as well as build new buildings.

Transportation: Capital Metro, Austin's Public Transit service, is great for getting around town most of the time. UT students, at least at the time this review is being written, get to ride the buses for free making it a very inexpensive way to see the town. sometimes the operators can be a little off on timing and can arrive a bit too early or be very mean and not let you on after closing the doors at a stop, but overall it is quite a pleasant experience.

Weather: In the winter, temperatures are moderate. In fact, if you are from the Northeast or North Dakota, Austin winters can feel very nice at times. However, the summers can be brutal. While not as bad as Houston at high noon, the temperatures can be around 100 F for days or even weeks straight. Be sure to stay hydrated.

Overall Experience: The things I love far outweighs the things I hate here. Despite being strict at times, UT can be considered one of the funnest schools in the nation in my book.

5 College Freshman

Majors: As students of Accounting we are very much taken care of in terms of professor availability and resource utilization. However, it is the student's responsibility to take an interest in his or her academics. Only then will professors truly be able to lend a hand.

4 College Freshman

Campus Food: Not perfect since the University itself only allows a select few restaurants in campus, but this is made up for by the VAST options available in Austin. Do not be afraid to explore here. It seems new restaurants open everyday in Austin.

5 College Freshman

Diversity: I love being able to hear so many languages at UT. Everyday I hear every language from Chinese and Hindi to Spanish and French. Very little, if any, homogeneity here.

Administration: UT, while it is a good school, can be overly strict in some areas. I am happy they are strict on the honor code but UT really overreacts on parking way too much.

5 College Freshman

Academics: The Accounting Program at this University is heralded as one of the finest in the nation. UT is known for its rigor and employers seek us out because of that background.

5 College Freshman

Academics: In the Accounting program at UT, the professors care about the progress of students if the students will care about progressing. Definitely no "free-riders" can succeed but professors are here for the students.

Off-Campus Housing: It's just great to get to live in Austin period!

Athletics: There's a real feeling of pride and mutual support among athletes and sports fans.

Off-Campus Housing: There are many, many apartments near campus, so it is not difficult to find an apartment but usually the rent may be a bit high but usually 2-3 people sign to a room, thus the price lowers a bit.

Most students agree that they have loved their time here at UT, and they wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. College is the best time of your life, and I can’t think of a better place to spend it than at the University of Texas. Students get a great education while having an awesome college town with everything at their disposal. Don’t try to graduate early. Enjoy your time at UT—go cheer on the Longhorns at all the home games for all sports: football, basketball, baseball, intramurals. See the amenities that the Forty Acres has to offer—the Harry Ransom Center, go to our libraries and see our more than eight million volumes. Go to Gregory Gym and the Rec Center—you have a free gym membership for four years or more—use it.

I came to UT convinced that I was going to transfer to a school in California in the spring. I spent two days here before school started and I never wanted to leave, even to go home and visit my parents and high school friends! I couldn’t leave because I was always afraid that I would miss something because there was always something exciting going on. If you are worried about the fact that UT is so big, don’t. All you have to do is find your niche, and everything else should fall into place. You can find it within your dorm, apartment, organization, fraternity, sorority, or classmates. Although, at times, it may seem overwhelming, UT is not nearly as big as it sounds. All you have to do is make friends, which you will, and the campus will seem infinitely smaller. Come join us!
