Local Area: I LOVE Austin, but I'm a northern girl at heart so I would never stay in Texas after school.

Greek Life: After going through sorority recruitment I realized it's just not the thing for me. Some people love it, definitely a preference. I have friends that are involved in greek life and others that are not

Party Scene: From the times I have gone out, it's awesome!

Weather: One day it's 75 the next it's 40...but you get off of school with even a chance of ice/snow

5 College Sophomore

Academics: This school is extremely hard. I feel mediocre here instead of smart

Campus Housing: Not horrible, not great. It's campus housing, if you can't deal with it don't go to college

3 College Sophomore

Majors: It's not very difficult to get into a biology degree or pre-med, but the classes are VERY hard and for once I actually have to try to do good.

Transportation: You have a free bus pass that takes you anywhere in Austin!

Administration: I've never had any negative run ins with campus officials. If you're doing something wrong however, and you get caught. Off course you are going to get in trouble.

Scholarships: I received some financial aid.

Health & Safety: UT has many systems in place to assure that students are safe on campus. Many campus hotlines are available 24/7 and a SURE walk system is in place that if a student is going to walk alone they can call SURE walk to have a group of students to come walk with them

Drug Safety: Drug and alcohol visibility only at parties, not on campus. UT is a smoke-free campus. The Geek Life it what contributes to most of the drug and alcohol scenes.

Athletics: If you've never heard of Longhorn Football and Mack Brown.....you must live in a hole. The UT community loves everyone of their varsity sports, lighting out beloved tower is a priority. Campus roads shut down on sports days just to account for the tailgating on campus. I could say that UT has one of the most spirited schools out there

Local Area: Everything is in walking distance from UT Austin whether it be going to eat at the hip restaurants on the drag or hitting the nightlife only a short 5 min bus ride down the street. Austin always has outdoor activities such a Barton springs pool and zilker park, and i must say the hiking experience in Austin is amazing. I want to live in Austin for the rest of my life.

Most students agree that they have loved their time here at UT, and they wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. College is the best time of your life, and I can’t think of a better place to spend it than at the University of Texas. Students get a great education while having an awesome college town with everything at their disposal. Don’t try to graduate early. Enjoy your time at UT—go cheer on the Longhorns at all the home games for all sports: football, basketball, baseball, intramurals. See the amenities that the Forty Acres has to offer—the Harry Ransom Center, go to our libraries and see our more than eight million volumes. Go to Gregory Gym and the Rec Center—you have a free gym membership for four years or more—use it.

I came to UT convinced that I was going to transfer to a school in California in the spring. I spent two days here before school started and I never wanted to leave, even to go home and visit my parents and high school friends! I couldn’t leave because I was always afraid that I would miss something because there was always something exciting going on. If you are worried about the fact that UT is so big, don’t. All you have to do is find your niche, and everything else should fall into place. You can find it within your dorm, apartment, organization, fraternity, sorority, or classmates. Although, at times, it may seem overwhelming, UT is not nearly as big as it sounds. All you have to do is make friends, which you will, and the campus will seem infinitely smaller. Come join us!
