Campus Housing: There is many options to choose from. The social atmosphere is amazing and very convenient. However, the cost is a little high but not as bad as other Universities.

Greek Life: Non greek students can be weary of greek life, however most students that join greek life love it and the school much more. Every chapter has a unique personality- rush can be extremely difficult because it is a southern school and therefore a lot of snobs but you will find that greeks are some of the most genuine, hard working, kind people on campus if you don't judge them by their cover.

Administration: Administration will most not likely affect you adversely unless you severely break rules- in which case punishments can be pretty harsh.

Local Area: Austin is a growing city so there is plenty to do. The most popular activities include hiking and anything outdoors and live music concerts.

Overall Experience: There is no better school than UT. Here you will have to work hard in school but you will also gain valuable social skills as well. Austin is the best city in the world to live in- you can find cowboys and hippies all living happily side by side. Do not come to UT if you want to sit in a dorm room for four years and only leave to study more. UT has everything you could want however, you have to be responsible for your experience at UT and make the most of it. UT has been the best four years of my life and has prepared me for an amazing future.

Overall Experience: UT is the best school I could ask for. I am an art major, a smaller program and have made tons of friends in my program and i love my major. I am also part of greek life which has provided many friendships. I am a senior and still and best friends with many people from my freshman dorm as well. UT can be intimidating because of its size but sound time figuring out what you are passionate about and find organizations that will keep you involved and having fun. UT is not a school if you want a quiet, nurturing atmosphere which I think is a good thing. I came into campus very shy but have become outgoing because of the friendly students here.

Overall Experience: Alumni network is great because everyone that went to UT loves it. However, it is a large school and a lot of what you do with your degree is up to you. I have found career services extremely helpful because I went to them for help- do not assume that they will come to you.

Guys & Girls: Since most people at UT are pretty actives guys stay in good shape generally. There are tons of douchebags but overall you can find cute, nice guys fairly easily and everyone is very friendly

Health & Safety: West campus is not a safe place to walk alone. UT is a huge party school and if you have been drinking your likelihood of being a victim of sexual assault increases greatly. I know several people that this has happened to. Campus support is available to students however at such a large university few victims feel that their claims will be taken seriously and anything will actually be done.

Most students agree that they have loved their time here at UT, and they wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. College is the best time of your life, and I can’t think of a better place to spend it than at the University of Texas. Students get a great education while having an awesome college town with everything at their disposal. Don’t try to graduate early. Enjoy your time at UT—go cheer on the Longhorns at all the home games for all sports: football, basketball, baseball, intramurals. See the amenities that the Forty Acres has to offer—the Harry Ransom Center, go to our libraries and see our more than eight million volumes. Go to Gregory Gym and the Rec Center—you have a free gym membership for four years or more—use it.

I came to UT convinced that I was going to transfer to a school in California in the spring. I spent two days here before school started and I never wanted to leave, even to go home and visit my parents and high school friends! I couldn’t leave because I was always afraid that I would miss something because there was always something exciting going on. If you are worried about the fact that UT is so big, don’t. All you have to do is find your niche, and everything else should fall into place. You can find it within your dorm, apartment, organization, fraternity, sorority, or classmates. Although, at times, it may seem overwhelming, UT is not nearly as big as it sounds. All you have to do is make friends, which you will, and the campus will seem infinitely smaller. Come join us!
