Greek Life: UT parties. That is all.

Health & Safety: The staff is helpful but the medical team doesn't seem to be the most knowledgeable on issues. They seem to focus on mostly typical college student health problems and not much else.

Majors: Its really tough, but worth it with the amount of knowledge the professors are giving you.

Majors: UT is fiercely competitive requiring you to bring out your best. From an early age you know immediately how the real world will be and figure out the best ways to make your situation work.

Drug Safety: Although drugs, weed in particular, are a huge deal on campus for students. UT does a great job in its efforts to educate kids about the dangers and takes steps to ensure the students are safe even if they are caught using.

Local Area: Keep Austin Wierd is the Truest statement to sum it up.

Transportation: UT has its own bus service within campus and to the residential areas off campus for students. The city of Austin also provides an amazing bus system to access pretty much anywhere in austin.

Academics: This school allows for you to be educated by some of the best professors in the world, while also giving you plenty of opporunities to network with professionals. The large class sizes a re a bit of a drawback but those only last thru the first 2 years.

Party Scene: Though I have only been to one social event this year, peers of mine never have any difficulty finding an outing for the night. With near locations and friendly atmospheres is incredibly easy to meet people and enjoy a night out.

Off-Campus Housing: Up to now, I have only lived on campus. However, in my search for housing next year I have found the cost of living to be high if you are to be near campus. One must sacrifice cost for convenience. Parking on campus is difficult to find and permits are costly as well. The safety on the other hand is great, ensuring all students are secure on campus.

Academics: The professors definitely promote deep learning through engaging, challenging, and enjoying their students. The curriculum is diverse and offers options for every student. The registration process is simple with plenty of support from both student and staff. The workload is heavy but the courses and material are great! The study areas such as the SAC or the many various libraries provide a wide variety of study environments for the thousands of students that inhabit the university.

Off-Campus Dining: The restaurants are nearby, convenient, and appeal to many tastes.

Weather: The weather in Austin is bipolar. One day it can be in the forties and the next day it can be in the nineties. It affects my campus experience because I never know what to expect the weather to be like.

3 College Freshman

Majors: If I could do it all over again I would most likely choose the same program to help me decide what I want to major in. My career goals are to graduate from Medical school after graduating from UT.

3 College Freshman

Majors: It was not a difficult process getting into this program. The only difficulty is that you do not have a specific major. However, academic advisers help students pick a major.

3 College Freshman

Academics: Right now I am in the undeclared program because I have not declared a major for Pre-Med. The program helps you find what you want to major it so it is very helpful.

Off-Campus Housing: The prices can be very high when apartments are near campus. The cheap apartments are far so it would be difficult to rely on bus transportation to and from school. Also, if you bring your car then the parking adds more to the price.

5 College Freshman

Health & Safety: The safety and security on campus are the best. There are emergency posts all over campus. Although I never feel unsafe on campus it is nice to know that they are there just in case I need them. I don't have to worry about my dorm getting broken into because it is a safe place to live. There are cameras in the dorm.

Overall Experience: The environment and people make my school unique. I would choose this school again because I feel in love with the environment. My overall experience at UT is wonderful. I have made some long lifetime friends so far and it is only my first year.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: I like to live on campus because it is convenient. However, I have limited space and it can get frustrating. Also, I feel like the cost of the dorm is too high.

3 College Freshman

Administration: My school is not very strict on anything except the honor code.

Local Area: Although rent is high and traffic is never fun, it is well worth it to live in such a fun city.

Most students agree that they have loved their time here at UT, and they wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. College is the best time of your life, and I can’t think of a better place to spend it than at the University of Texas. Students get a great education while having an awesome college town with everything at their disposal. Don’t try to graduate early. Enjoy your time at UT—go cheer on the Longhorns at all the home games for all sports: football, basketball, baseball, intramurals. See the amenities that the Forty Acres has to offer—the Harry Ransom Center, go to our libraries and see our more than eight million volumes. Go to Gregory Gym and the Rec Center—you have a free gym membership for four years or more—use it.

I came to UT convinced that I was going to transfer to a school in California in the spring. I spent two days here before school started and I never wanted to leave, even to go home and visit my parents and high school friends! I couldn’t leave because I was always afraid that I would miss something because there was always something exciting going on. If you are worried about the fact that UT is so big, don’t. All you have to do is find your niche, and everything else should fall into place. You can find it within your dorm, apartment, organization, fraternity, sorority, or classmates. Although, at times, it may seem overwhelming, UT is not nearly as big as it sounds. All you have to do is make friends, which you will, and the campus will seem infinitely smaller. Come join us!
