Off-Campus Dining: Some places can get pricey but they accept our prepaid meal dollars, which is convenient.

Health & Safety: Some incidents happen near campus, but the police take care of it

Overall Experience: I'm in all honors classes, so the professors are great and the material isn't too easy.

Party Scene: I have only been to one party, and that was the 80s/90s party the first week of school during the fall semester. I do not like partying so I cannot give a fair review.

Athletics: The athletics department at UT Austin is HUGE. I guess because a lot of revenue is generated through this sector. But I cannot complain- I love sports.

Scholarships: I was not able to apply for any scholarships last semester, but the university notified me letting me know that a certain amount of money from my tuition bill was set aside because I qualified for financial assistance. No complaints here!

Off-Campus Dining: Before I moved to Austin, I often struggled to find vegetarian food at restaurants, but that is now a thing of the past. I gained 15 healthy pounds (I was quite underweight before going to college). I love that when I am late night studying, there is always something open, and it's always walking distance. Prices are pretty good as I usually can have leftovers even for my somewhat large appetite.

Local Area: Austin is a great city- many people are constantly moving to Austin every single day. I like everything about this city, except for two things- the cost of living by the University is VERY expensive and traffic is a daily problem because there are so many people in this city. It's time to expand the highways. However, the rapid buses are quite reliable as they come every 15 minutes. Other than that Austin is GREAT. I do not miss my home town at all.

Majors: I plan to have an internship, I just do not have one right now. I look forward to it though, and as far as I have heard, my program does a great job at helping students find an internship.

Campus Housing: I do not live on a campus dorm but I do have many friends who live on campus and overall I rate the dorms average, or even slightly below average. They are pretty old and small. The only decent one is San Jacinto, which is just super expensive to live in and is still not spacious. The roommate lottery system is also average, I hear many complaints about how roommates often conflict.

Greek Life: I am not sure about Greek life on campus, but I answered all of the other questions to the best of my abilities.

Majors: They are pretty good, except in the Germanic studies department, specifically GSD. You should look at other schools for that.

Majors: It is neat, but poorly organized. It is new though, as Fall 2014.

Athletics: Not really sure. I hear the football team sucks, we lose all the time.

Majors: The GSD major is not the best, since it is new. But the faculty is really cool, super nice, and it is fun anyway.

Local Area: I really love it here, Austin is a great city. There are people from all over, truly a weird, diverse place. The first place where I have really felt that I fit in.

Most students agree that they have loved their time here at UT, and they wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. College is the best time of your life, and I can’t think of a better place to spend it than at the University of Texas. Students get a great education while having an awesome college town with everything at their disposal. Don’t try to graduate early. Enjoy your time at UT—go cheer on the Longhorns at all the home games for all sports: football, basketball, baseball, intramurals. See the amenities that the Forty Acres has to offer—the Harry Ransom Center, go to our libraries and see our more than eight million volumes. Go to Gregory Gym and the Rec Center—you have a free gym membership for four years or more—use it.

I came to UT convinced that I was going to transfer to a school in California in the spring. I spent two days here before school started and I never wanted to leave, even to go home and visit my parents and high school friends! I couldn’t leave because I was always afraid that I would miss something because there was always something exciting going on. If you are worried about the fact that UT is so big, don’t. All you have to do is find your niche, and everything else should fall into place. You can find it within your dorm, apartment, organization, fraternity, sorority, or classmates. Although, at times, it may seem overwhelming, UT is not nearly as big as it sounds. All you have to do is make friends, which you will, and the campus will seem infinitely smaller. Come join us!
