Administration: Not Sure – UT has a massive police force, but I don't know much about them. I do know rules are quite strict because the University has a Judicial services office that treats students who misbehave.

Campus Housing: UT Is Great – Jester Dormitory can turn into quite a horrible experience after some time but in general it is fine. UT gives you the ultimate student experience with its student population and urban environment.

Scholarships: About half the time it came at the last minute and i would have to do a "tuition loan" till my actual financial aid came in.

Technology: If you are a Mac user then UT is great for you (I personally am not) so i always used my personal laptop....

Academics: UT offers a huge variety of classes that fulfill basic requirements in a unique way. Classes vary from bat caves, Grimms Brother original fairy tales, to modern poetry. It is great to take classes you wouldn't take without needing a requirement - but classes that also still interest you.

Campus Quality: A great great culturally diverse school. I get to meet so many people from different backgrounds, religions, countries, ect. a wonderful experience. Austin in itself is a wonderful city outside of school, amazing outdoor activities and a very active and youthful lifestyle is appreciated.

Athletics: Longhorn Pride – UT is absolutely full of pride - athletic events are major and well appreciated by students. Some of the best memories I have.

Off-Campus Housing: Housing close to campus (within walking/non dorm) is relatively high due to convenience and access to downtown night spots. Most students with low/average income reside off riverside which is popular with "bedroom leasing" apartments - but you have the possibility of unknown roommates if you do not fill up the bedrooms with people you know. In the end there is a place for everyone to fit budget and style.

Transportation: the buses pretty much cover all of campus and pretty much all around austin. you normally don't have to wait long for a bus to come back around either. plus the costs are included in tuition.

Weather: Very Clear and Nice Whether – Excepting for several weeks of August, Texas is very good place to live and study for me. It's not hard to see a such clear and nice whether in Texas. Owing to wonderful weather, Texas people seem to feel a very comfortable and peaceful in their daily life.

Drug Safety: Very Safety in Usage of Drug – Socail activities through alcohol is very usual for students. But this doesn't seem to interupt the regular life of school. Also, I've heard about drug but I've never seen the sene for my graduate student.UT is very safe zone I think.

Diversity: For UT campus's period, I can totally experience diveristy of racial. Students learn how to understand the diverisity of custom, thinking, ideology from the background of diverse countries. Also, UT campus is one of the most big beutiful campus in USA. Lots of student who graduated from UT positively contribute on society of USA.

Party Scene: West Campus Sucks – West campus is notorious for partying and nightlife. I personally hate every experience I've ever had there. I say skip West Campus and create your own fun. I love experiencing Austin and everything this magical city has to offer.

Health & Safety: Pretty Safe – Our campus police always has their guard up, and there is rarely any concerns on campus. You must be responsible for your own stuff, as theft is not unheard of here. Whenever there is an emergency, UT is quick to respond and tells us exactly what to do via text message and email.

Transportation: Very Handy – I love the shuttle routes on campus. I basically don't even need a car because I live on campus and have a shuttle to take me to school. However, I find that even though not having buses run on Saturdays making sense, I just wish sometimes that it would so that I dont have to drive to campus and find parking--that's always a real hassle.

Local Area: Relaxed and WEIRD – Keep Austin WEIRD. That's what everyone says and at first, I didn't get it...but now I do. There's a unique culture that's distinctly Austin. All kinds of initiatives are welcome, you are introduced to so many things...and you can experience feelings of nature and the big city all in one place. It's fantastic. There are also so many places to go like Mount Bonnell, Soco, the Greenbelt, etc. and so many things to do that's uniquely Austin that you'll never run out of things to do. And it really helps that everything is so close together so it's not like when you are in another city and you have to drive an hour just to go do something.

Campus Quality: I think the SAC is a very nice place that they have built. It looks very modern and is a great hang out spot in addition to the numerous space that it provides for student organizations to have meetings in. However, I do find that it's a little confusing to get around the SAC because at times, there are some stairs that dont lead to certain floors and some elevators that do not as well. Also, the wifi and phone signal is horrible in the SAC and I can never use my phone when I am on the first floor.

Greek Life: Occasional Take Over – There is no doubt that the Greek Life is a huge part of UT. You can't leave your room without seeing someone in a neon sorority shirt and nike shorts. I'm not too familiar with the sororities in Panhellenic since they seems to only socialize within themselves. That being said, the smaller sororities are very approachable and friendly. I've gotten several invitations from them to parties and events they are holding around the campus.

Parking: Better Get a Permit – Parking is such a hassle if you do not own a permit. And most of the permits are ridiculously expensive. One permit to be able to park at a garage on campus costs nearly 800. The further ones are cheaper but are inconvenient because they involve a 20 minute walk to your car.

Administration: Freedom Freedom and More Freedom – There really is no level of strictness at UT. Many rules are basic general rules that everyone adheres to. I always feel free to do whatever I want. The only strictness is underage drinking in downtown. It is pretty strict but it's the law so it is completely understandable.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: Melting Pot of UT – Through out my daily walks around campus, I see people of every color, race, and culture. I have many friends who are from different parts of the world whom I am very close with. I love the fact that everyone is extremely friendly and accepting of others religious beliefs and cultures. I don't see many challenges however, even as a Jew, Jewish life on campus is large. They also have multi-cultural fraternities and sororities that appeal to a lot of the students.

Overall Experience: WOULDN't TRADE IT FOR ANYTHING – I USED TO THINK THIS SCHOOL WOULD BE TOO BIG AND PACKED, YET I WAS WRONG. UT-AUSTIN OFFERS AN AMAZING CAMPUS WITH AN IMMENSE STUDENT BODY THAT IS AS DIVERSE AS IT CAN GET. EVERYONE HERE IS VERY FRIENDLY AND ALWAYS WILLING TO HELP YOU OUT. UT-AUSTIN BOASTS A RENOWNED BAR OF FACULTY - ONE WHICH BESTOWS US ALL WITH AN EXCELLENT EDUCATION. OUR COLLEGE IS BIG, DIVERSE, AND BEAUTIFUL. THE ARCHITECTURE IS AMAZING AND YOU CAN FIND ALL SORTS OF STYLES HERE AT UT. WE HAVE A LOT OF LIBRARIES, CAFES, DORMS, STUDENT CENTERS, AND SO MUCH MORE. I WAS INITIALLY GOING TO ATTEND UPENN BUT ENDED COMING TO UT. HONESTLY, THIS HAS BEEN THE BEST DECISION I HAVE EVER MADE THUS FAR. OUR UNIVERSITY BOASTS OF PRESTIGIOUS COLLEGE PROGRAMS IN SO MANY COMPETITIVE FIELDS. I'M ALREADY GETTING RECRUITED BY TOP CORPORATIONS (AND ITS BECAUSE MOST OF THE BLUE CHIP COMPANIES RECRUIT AT UT SINCE ITS A PUBLIC IVY INSTITUTION). COME TO UT AND YOU WON'T REGRET IT.

Weather: LIVING IN CENTRAL TEXAS PROVIDES US WITH WARM WEATHER DURING MOST OF THE YEAR. DURING THE WINTER IT GETS VERY COLD AND EVEN SNOWS, BUT ITS NICE AND EVERYONE ENJOYS IT. DURING THE LATE SPRING AND SUMMER THE HEAT CAN BECOME UNBEARABLE BUT THIS ALLOWS US TO WEAR OUR FLIP-FLOPS, T-SHIRTS, AND SHORTS TO CLASS. OVERALL THE WEATHER EXPERIENCE IS GREAT AND IT IS ONE OF THE REASONS WHY MANY PEOPLE CHOOSE TO STUDY AT UT. I LOVE IT!

Campus Quality: THE FACILITIES AT UT-AUSTIN ARE WORLD-CLASS AND CATER TO A DEMANDING POOL OF STUDENTS. UT CARRIES WITH IT A VERY RIGOROUS CURRICULUM AND STUDENTS NEED FACILITIES THAT WILL CATER TO THEIR GROWING NEEDS. WHEREVER YOU LOOK, BUILDINGS ARE BEING BUILT ON OUR 40 ACRES. WE RECENTLY RECEIVED OUR SECOND STUDENT UNION, THE STUDENT ACTIVITY CENTER - IT IS VERY MODERN AND STATE-OF-THE-ART. OUR NUMEROUS LIBRARIES, STUDENT CENTERS, AND GENERAL CAMPUS AESTHETICS ALLOW ANY STUDENT TO FIND COMFORT AND PRACTICALITY WITHIN THE CONFINES OF THIS PUBLIC IVY INSTITUTION.

Greek Life: Good Environment – They are good people. I am not in the greek society but they are there to help each other.

Most students agree that they have loved their time here at UT, and they wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. College is the best time of your life, and I can’t think of a better place to spend it than at the University of Texas. Students get a great education while having an awesome college town with everything at their disposal. Don’t try to graduate early. Enjoy your time at UT—go cheer on the Longhorns at all the home games for all sports: football, basketball, baseball, intramurals. See the amenities that the Forty Acres has to offer—the Harry Ransom Center, go to our libraries and see our more than eight million volumes. Go to Gregory Gym and the Rec Center—you have a free gym membership for four years or more—use it.

I came to UT convinced that I was going to transfer to a school in California in the spring. I spent two days here before school started and I never wanted to leave, even to go home and visit my parents and high school friends! I couldn’t leave because I was always afraid that I would miss something because there was always something exciting going on. If you are worried about the fact that UT is so big, don’t. All you have to do is find your niche, and everything else should fall into place. You can find it within your dorm, apartment, organization, fraternity, sorority, or classmates. Although, at times, it may seem overwhelming, UT is not nearly as big as it sounds. All you have to do is make friends, which you will, and the campus will seem infinitely smaller. Come join us!
