College Freshman

Scholarships: Takes Awhile – I have received a descent amount of financial aid in the past, but the process takes awhile before I can receive it.

Campus Quality: Campus is absolutely beautiful, which I was not expecting. The stadium holds 102,000 fans and is always full which is the most incredible thing about being at UT, in my opinion. There are numerous libraries on campus, some new and some old and regal and countless student centers with food, coffee, and tech support. Most classrooms have projectors and microphone systems installed, as well as systems to record lectures and post them on the internet for students who missed class!

Diversity: There is a lot of diversity. People come from all across America to UT and from out of state, it's cool getting to learn about where everyone is from.

Campus Housing: Smal but Cozy – I love the dorms, they are small but still comfortable. Everything you could need you can find in the Jacinta dorm facility, it's definatly the best dorm to live in so register quicly! There are rooms with bathrooms in them but there are some without and a community bathroom type thing, they are clean four times a day and are always in decent condition, I still like to be there right after they are cleaned though. Every third room has a thermostat that controls three rooms, so I suggest a dorm with the thermostat if you care about room temp. The dorm floors are boy, girl but there are others that are all boy or all girl

Weather: Always Summer – super nice weather in austin
winter is mild
summer is perfect for barton spring

Campus Quality: Everything in One – free gym, with any kind of fitness class for an small fee. recreational pool and inside track
3 or more libraries

4 College Sophomore

Administration: Don't Mess up – As long as you don't do anything stupid you will be fine

4 College Sophomore

Party Scene: If you find the right people there is a good party goin on all the time, not to mention 6th street!

5 College Sophomore

Athletics: HOOK EM' – Sports are the life here, we have the best teams and the best fans!

3 College Junior

Technology: Don't Bother – I don't bother using the computers on campus. Labs don't always have great hours and during finals they're extremely crowded. It's also frustrating being kicked off the faster internet after using a certain amount of bandwidth.

Health & Safety: Safe & Secure – UT has a multitude of resources available to keep students safe. We have an on-campus police force with emergency stations set up all over campus. We also have programs like Surewalk that offer students the safety of walking home with another students at all hours of the night.

Weather: The weather here is nice but you can never tell about Texas. One day it might be cold the nice day it might be so hot. The weather is mostly nice though.

3 College Freshman

Health & Safety: There have been times that i haven't felt safe, but the streets are quite lit and it is not that dark. There are alot of help police boxes so you can always get a hold of the police if you ever felt threatened. Other than that the campus is pretty safe. Bikes get stolen alot so I would say to have multiple locks and to register your bike.

Campus Quality: The facilities here on campus are great. They are very useful with resources and are a great source for information. They are also clean and is renovated. Most facilities are a great place to hang out and study with friends.

Diversity: Lots of White Students – The school isn't as diverse as they claim. In a school of 50,000 students only 5,000 are Black, but the redeeming quality is that the black community is generally close.

Off-Campus Housing: Apartments Are Expensive – The apartments are really really expensive and not that big but they are really good if your an R.A. (they're free), and they come with a meal plan and your closer to all the activities/events on campus.

4 Recent Alumnus

Drug Safety: Its Very Popular – A majority of parties you go to there will be alcohol and weed.

4 Recent Alumnus

Greek Life: Greeks Are Really Big. The Greeks are really abundant at UT they throw alot of fun events/ parties.

5 Recent Alumnus

Party Scene: Always a Great Time. The nightlife is one of the best things at UT. Parties everyday and there is literally a street, 6th street, dedicated to clubs and bars.

3 Recent Alumnus

Technology: Usually Really Good. The computers on campus are generally good except sometimes they don't work and during finals times the computer labs are full but there are a lot of labs.

3 Recent Alumnus

Scholarships: Its Not Really the Greatest. The scholarships aren't the best thing at UT because its very hard to find them and its also really hard to get loans.

3 Recent Alumnus

Weather: It doesn't really rain in Austin and It doesn't really get that cold, every once in a while it snows, but the only problem is that the summers are HOT like triple digit degrees til like November/December.

4 Recent Alumnus

Academics: Very Helpful Teachers. The professors are very helpful, they are willing to work with you whenever you need help, like my chemistry teacher was willing to help me morning, noon and night just so that I can pass the chemistry.

4 Recent Alumnus

Scholarships: There are plenty of scholarships and grants to go around at UT Austin, you just have to look for them.

4 Recent Alumnus

Administration: Normal Amount of Strictness – I have never gotten into trouble myself but the punishments were valid.

Most students agree that they have loved their time here at UT, and they wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. College is the best time of your life, and I can’t think of a better place to spend it than at the University of Texas. Students get a great education while having an awesome college town with everything at their disposal. Don’t try to graduate early. Enjoy your time at UT—go cheer on the Longhorns at all the home games for all sports: football, basketball, baseball, intramurals. See the amenities that the Forty Acres has to offer—the Harry Ransom Center, go to our libraries and see our more than eight million volumes. Go to Gregory Gym and the Rec Center—you have a free gym membership for four years or more—use it.

I came to UT convinced that I was going to transfer to a school in California in the spring. I spent two days here before school started and I never wanted to leave, even to go home and visit my parents and high school friends! I couldn’t leave because I was always afraid that I would miss something because there was always something exciting going on. If you are worried about the fact that UT is so big, don’t. All you have to do is find your niche, and everything else should fall into place. You can find it within your dorm, apartment, organization, fraternity, sorority, or classmates. Although, at times, it may seem overwhelming, UT is not nearly as big as it sounds. All you have to do is make friends, which you will, and the campus will seem infinitely smaller. Come join us!
