Health & Safety: The security measures taken on campus and around campus are extensive and the students know it and understand it. Personal safety is quite extensive as well but the personal safety of a person is up to that person and their decisions. The police are very aware of what happens on campus and they do their best to help prevent crimes and help spread safety measures as thoroughly as possible. The idea of walking at night is still nerve wracking but it's bound to be if it is dark outside and one is alone and seemingly without group support, but overall the university takes the safety of its students as of the highest importance.

Campus Housing: I love living on campus. The environment created when living on campus where you can meet old friends and meet new ones is exhilarating because it is exciting to expand one's network of friends and connections. The amenities work in your favor and if they do not, the TREC is less than a 10 minute walk away and can make up for anything that is felt as a loss. The UC is less than a 10 minute walk away as well and campus is so beautiful that one barely notices the trek. The dorms are so spacious and inviting. It is so easy and helpful when meeting new floor mates and the RA's are so pleasant and they become close friends as well. The cost, while sometimes seems unreasonable, is fair considering the amount of amenities and ease of access it provides. Overall, housing is quite literally, amazing.

Athletics: The amount of support and school spirit shown for all the school sports is unbelievable. One will never meet anyone more excited and hype for sports than a fan of this institution. Even the students who do not have as much interest in sports show just as much enthusiasm for the athletes at the university as other students. Team performance relies on one another, that is what team work is and symbolizes at our school. The athletic facilities can be used by everyone and they are all in tip top shape and are some of the best that anyone has seen. While the athletic scene is almost idolized, we are all considered equals to one another and that is also another key factor to the University of Tennessee.

Overall Experience: The University of Tennessee is a place I never thought I would call home and I love every minute of the time that I spend there. What I love about the school is the energy, especially during football season, because it is unchanging and it does not waver from what I have seen. Whether we lose a game or win a game, it is the most energetic and the support is unanimous. It is quite a sight to behold. The people at the University of Tennessee are some of the nicest and most genuine people I have ever met in my life and I do not regret for one second submitting my application to this amazing institution. Sure we have our ups and downs and there are issues that no one can deny, but being surrounded by the community makes one realize that they're home and can achieve anything together. The University of Tennessee is home and it always will be.

Greek Life: There isn't an overwhelming push to join these clubs.

5 College Sophomore

Athletics: There's nothing like football on Rocky Top!

Overall Experience: UT is a great school. It has prestigious programs in nursing, dental, and others. They have a body farm and many fun school activities to get you involved on campus.

Drug Safety: There have been a lot of changes regarding the code of conduct at the school.

Athletics: We have really great athletic programs, in intramurals, clubs, and official university teams. We have all sorts of teams, even a Quidditch team! The student involvement, fan support, and school spirit for the Vols and the Big Orange is out of this world.

Overall Experience: Some classes have teachers who aren't helpful, but I think that would happen anywhere. The pride at the school is great, the fanbase is awesome, classes are lovely. There are some departments that are losing their funding and some that didn't have much funding to begin with. I guess since we're public, things will move around in ways that the teachers and students don't actually agree with. But I really think it's been a great experience. There are so many people here, I can never be lonely or bored.

UT draws students from all over, and it is little wonder why. UT has a personality all its own. The level of pride and tradition here is among the strongest in the country, and the amount of support Knoxville has for UT is amazing, especially with sports. You will love the laid-back Southern style UT has to offer, and you will enjoy spending time with the people you meet here. Ask any UT alumni about their most positive life experiences, and I guarantee you that most of those experiences will have occurred at UT.

It is understandable to see how UT can appear intimidating on paper, especially to those coming from a small town. There are many different activities to become involved in, and they are yours for the taking if you are willing to make the effort and work hard. The key to success at UT, as well as any college, is to learn to manage your time properly. As long as you remember that education is the main reason for coming to UT and prioritize accordingly, you will be very happy during your college days.
