Everyone has fun at night. Many freshmen go out to the fraternity houses on their way to and from the 9-0, while others get together with neighbors and classmates to hang around campus. Stage and screen performances are always going on throughout campus, and Starbucks is open until midnight. House parties are popular on 30th Street and on Ellendale. The 29th St. Grill, known to Trojans as the 2-9, is a good place to sit and have drinks.
Fraternities and sororities hold invites, exchanges, and formals at venues around campus and all over Los Angeles County throughout the semester. Sunset Strip has one of the densest concentrations of bars and clubs on the planet, while Venice Beach, Santa Monica, and Manhattan are all popular destinations for party-goers. When all’s said and done, and the night has slapped you in the face like a fishtail, winding it down with some greasy Chano’s seems to be everyone’s preference. Denny’s is open super late, but expect snail service. If you’re craving on the Sunset Strip, head over to Mel’s Drive-In—it’s 24 hours and has free valet parking (tip not included).
