Diversity: The diversity is pretty good. Physically, we look very diverse, but sometimes it feels very cis-gendered and white.

Drug Safety: Sometimes it's great to have so much partying, but sometimes the atmosphere feels a little oppressive. There are definitely negative aspects of USC amplified by the drug/alcohol atmosphere (sexual assault statistics, reputation of the greek system, reputation of the school as a whole, academic performance, etc).

Technology: Usually everything works, but occasionally the copiers break down. The wireless is almost always great, and I would bring a laptop to take notes for most lecture classes - unless you can't focus if you do, then bring a notebook.

Weather: Amazing weather - always easy to get to and from class, and enjoy the day.

Health & Safety: There is NO on campus crime it's wonderful. Also after 9 pm they check everyone's ID before entering, so they know who is coming onto campus.

Guys & Girls: You are encouraged to have a social life at USC. Our tailgates for our football games are amazing fun. The row is great as well!

Weather: It's Southern California! Need I say more?

Local Area: It's close to downtown La, Hollywood, truly in a prime location aside from the fact that it is south central. But you are really not in any danger, USC takes necessary precautions.

Greek Life: Greek life is really great! However the president of our university is really cracking down on the registered parties because there have been so many alcohol related hospitalizations.

Academics: Going to USC has been the greatest blessing in my life, and has truly helped me accomplish so much. It is an amazing school, and I am inspired daily by world renowned professors. Being a creative writing major, I am encouraged by such a loving community, and shown the true craft of writing through very different perspectives and opinions. By the time we are finished with the program we finish a novel under the guidance of a successful published author. Which is extremely rewarding to say the least.

Academics: I wouldn't suggest any other school. USC is amazing, we have the best professors throughout our university. One of our Professors just recently one a Nobel Prize in Science, all of our adjunct professors are successful in their field, and there are so many amazing Majors and amazing schools within our university.

Drug Safety: There is plenty of policy enforcement that monitors the alcohol and drug use of students on campus. Alcohol is easily accessible at college parties.

Local Area: Great city to live in and a beautiful campus.

Transportation: The public transportation system is really bad. It's hard to get around without a car. Even if you have one though, the traffic is hell.

Diversity: There's a whole range of people here with all kinds of religions, ethnicities, sexual preferences, and political beliefs, if the many clubs and student organizations are of any indication.

2 College Freshman

Local Area: Despite the fact that the school is in LA, it's in a really bad part of LA, so there isn't much to do at night that's not at The Row. If you want to go out at night and have fun, a car is necessary.

5 College Freshman

Greek Life: I'm not Greek, but Greek life is huge here. The Row throws tons of parties every week, and Greeks and non-Greeks alike flock there on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Heck, there's parties on other days sometimes too. The registered parties are also pretty big.

Students from Southern California usually love USC from the beginning and strengthen their bonds with the school as time passes. Students who travel to USC from longer distances tend to adapt more slowly, dealing at first with the culture shock that inevitably comes with a first impression of LA. Universally, those who can survive the transition into the USC way of life fall in love with the school after first semester. Typically, students entering school with a skeptical mind-set ends up getting the most pride out of being a Trojan. At the very least, they come away with a new affinity toward college football.

The opportunities on campus are plentiful, and in LA, opportunities are endless. Time flies for everyone at USC, and changes in living conditions, academic standards, and career goals come quicker than newcomers might expect. USC graduates are sure to look back on a college experience that could not have been offered anywhere else. Basically, the more that students are willing to explore the opportunities available to them, the more they endorse the idea that USC is the perfect school for its time and place.
