Health & Safety: I feel completely safe on my campus. Not only do we have police around at all times looking out for you, but if no one is around they have stationed alert buttons all over campus. There are also plenty of places you can go to talk to someone if you need help

Scholarships: i believe every schools financial aid is tough to get money out of, our school should definitely do better when it comes to connecting with students more about what is available to them. And promoting scholarships are are able to be applied for would be nice

4 College Sophomore

Majors: We have a wide option of Majors, many arent just broad. we have specific programs to become a part of. Each program has its own curriculum and for most i think the work load is challenging but definitely do able.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: We have a career center at our finger tips that does everything to have employers begging our students to join as interns. We are well promoted in this area and are offered great positions

Local Area: The Atmosphere of Columbia in general is awesome, there is a reason students just never want to leave. Everyone in columbia knows this is a college city and everyone comes together to make it the best. Every year there are tons of festivals to participate in, during football season there isnt one person not watching our Gamecocks. Beautiful places and so many fun things too do.

Campus Housing: Student housing here is student housing everywhere. Not the most ideal place to live but it'll do for a year. Plus being able to learn among your peers is the main reason staying on campus is so great. Id say in every topic we are about average except for social and convenience we are well above

Academics: I have had some of the best Professors in the Country. The reason USC has being making jumps of the latter in the school wide ranking is because we have some of the most challenging brilliant people leading us in our quest for learning. They know what to teach us to leave us wanting more and help arise questions that keep our brains constantly stimulated. Work load is about average to other school and are Business School is Ranked number 1 nationally.

5 College Sophomore

Academics: We have some of the most pristine Scientist in the country at our finger tips to help guide us in this extremely hard, and time consuming major. Being a Biochem major is no walk in the part, but they try their best to make the road less bumpy for us.

Off-Campus Housing: This upcoming year will be my 1st year living off campus, but search for my new apartment was made simple. There is always plenty of places to choose from just depending on what you are looking for. Different locations are for different reasons i choose a place closer to campus so i could walk but many people choose because they are closer to the stadium to be in the mix on game days. I think we have a very good variety of options rather you want an apartment or house

Diversity: i think one of the main reasons i love USC so much is the diversity of the campus. I've never met to people there that feel the exact same way about every subject and i think its awesome. Being able to interact with people who arent the same as you is an awesome way to broaden the ways you think about life.

Guys & Girls: Since we have a huge greek life at USC many events and social life is surrounded around what is held by greek life. Parties and renting out bars and one of the best places to be on a thursday or friday night. Night scenes are all about the tight clothes and high heels, but during the day it seems (besides a few) the norts and big T's is a style that has over taken our campus. Which i think is a little ridiculous if you ask me. Not just partying goes on there are plenty of organizations that reside in USC that give access to more laid back nights, like religious, and even school sponsored events.

Off-Campus Dining: Off Campus Dining is pretty much the same as those at other college towns. There are plenty of places to go with big groups that serve usual college kids favorites like pizza that have really good atmosphere that we are looking for. Also there are plenty of places give you a lot for what you are paying, as a college student getting the most out of my money is so important. There are also places that are for those who want to have a nice sit down date away from all the craziness that comes along with being a college student

5 College Sophomore

Administration: Campus is fairly lenient and is easy to stay out of trouble.

Party Scene: A whole lot of fun

Party Scene: The parties and clubs I have been to were great for the most part.

Campus Housing: The cost and the ease of the housing process are the only things people might have problems with. The ease of the housing process isn't difficult, but it also isn't easy. The application for housing is fairly long and depending on which learning community you want to live in you might have to fill out more applications. The cost of housing might cause problems to people who don't have much money to get into college. Plus there are insurances that must be acquired.

Overall Experience: From what I've learned, the student career prospects and the value of a degree from this school is exceptional. There is a Career Center that helps students find jobs and/or internships. There is even a welcoming program that introduces new students to the Career Center and tells us how they can aid us.

4 College Freshman

Campus Food: I haven't experienced it myself, but from what I have researched the on campus dining is pretty good.

5 College Freshman

Athletics: Everyone is involved in the athletics; it doesn't matter if they are athletic or not. The football games, especially, is where everyone is involved and shows their school spirit. Everyone fully supports the athletics if not only for the involvement and school spirit, but for the bonding that happens because of it. The athletic facilities are amazing--the fields are well-kept and awesome, and the gym is spectacular. Not only is the school big on sports, health is very important as well and it shows.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: I believe that the safety and security is perfect but nothing is absolutely perfect. I still have concerns regarding safety and security because it's always good to be wary. Though I love the safety services put in place on campus--police boxes, campus police from the police department, etc--I will still be worried about the security on campus.

5 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There are a lot of choices when deciding where to eat. The variety and convenience of the dining options are very pleasant. I don't have experience with the student discounts yet but I have read about and heard that they are wonderful.

4 College Freshman

Local Area: People are very welcoming and warm to others. I haven't been around the city much, but the locals are fairly friendly.

5 College Freshman

Campus Quality: The campus is beautiful and well-kept. I love every single part of it.

3 College Freshman

Diversity: People don't usually talk about it. Either people don't care or they have more important things to worry about. The attitude towards diversity is mostly indifferent.

Scholarships: I didn't get the scholarship I wanted, but that was out of my control. I am still working on scholarships and if I can't get some from USC, then I will try here and on other scholarship sites.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

If there is one word to describe the experiences you will have at USC, it would have to be "unforgettable." Being away from home for the first time at USC is both exciting and scary at times, but the freedom you get when you come here feels natural. It makes you wonder why they don’t send people to college sooner! Academically, there are courses and professors who can make you look at things in ways you never considered before. Facts and figures will be thrown at you, but some of the professors (and your peers) can teach you a lot about life as well. It’s also a very cool thing to see laid-back professors who will sometimes move their classes out onto the Horseshoe lawn.

On top of this, with such a large student population, you will inevitably form new relationships that will last a lifetime. As at any college, the quality of the experience depends on what you put into it. There are thousands of new people to meet, tons of activities going on, and things to learn both in and out of class. Those who don’t take advantage of these opportunities will not get a lot out of their experience here. Some students get tired of being at USC after a while, and some hate it from the start for whatever reason. USC is not the place for everyone, but overall, students seem to be thoroughly enamored with Carolina and wouldn’t trade their title of Gamecocks for anything in the world. There seems to be an aura of its own inherent to the University, and its welcoming vibe is infectious.
