Overall Experience: It's good but parking is terrible and it's so hot all the time

Overall Experience: I will say that ultimately, I didn't have much choice in schools coming from a financial perspective. That being said, I have found an abundance of opportunities at my school. While it is difficult to find students with the same ambition and passion as me at a traditional state school, the large student body almost guarantees that you'll find you niche if you know where to look.

Overall Experience: I have yet to start classes at USC, but I have sat in a few of them. I really enjoyed the classes and the teachers. They worked with me and my friends and our schedules.

Overall Experience: It was a lot easier than I anticipated going into college. As long as I stay on top of my work and manage my time, I have been successful

Overall Experience: I love the energy I receive from everyone I meet on this campus! There are so many people, each with their own stories and backgrounds. It's great that we can all come together in such a wonderful place and share our love for our school! I recommend USC to all of my friends and I couldn't be any happier with my decision to come!

Overall Experience: My school is unique because is the number one business school in the USA. What could be better? For my desired field of study and future career plans, this is as good as it gets. It is truely a blessing to already live so close to the school. I don't have to worry about student housing or paying extra for transfering from another state.

Overall Experience: The Carolina Pride that everyone at my school has it what makes it unique. Everyone at the University of South Carolina feels connected because they are so happy to be there. The Horseshoe is very beautiful and unique and everyone loves to go there and admire the beauty of the heart of the campus. I love my school and everyone that goes there.

Overall Experience: My life at the University of South Carolina has been great because the city of Columbia and campus itself provided me with a sort of culture shock from the rural small town of Cheraw, South Carolina which I previously lived in. The University has provided me so many opportunities to branch out, join various organizations, and make potential lifelong friends. The resources that the University has for me to provide me with the best knowledge I can receive are superb and I honestly could not imagine myself studying anywhere else.

Athletics: Athletics are a great part of USC. With football and the Strom fitness center is one of the greatest in the country.

Greek Life: Greek life at USC is great. There's many positives about being in Greek life.

Off-Campus Housing: There are a lot of options for off campus housing including houses and varieties of apartments.

3 College Sophomore

Party Scene: Not many parties but when there are they are at off campus houses. USC is more of a bar scene.

Greek Life: I am a member of Pi Beta Phi and couldn't be happier with my experience. At first I thought Greek life wasn't for me but after I joined I realized how wrong I was.

Campus Housing: I lived in the Honors Dorm my freshman year. I am very close with the people who lived down the hall from me and couldn't have asked for a better first year dorm experience. There is a cafeteria downstairs that is very convenient, except that it is closed on the weekends. The dorm is very central to campus which was nice because my classes were pretty spread out.

Party Scene: There are rarely any house parties (at least that I hear about). Most people go downtown, so if you're underage you need to have a fake.

Off-Campus Dining: There's a lot of stuff within walking distance (Moe's, Dominos, Yoghut), but anything that isn't within walking distance probably delivers. A lot of places are open late (3am) like Insomnia or Fast Eddies. You'll be able to find something to eat pretty easily.

Administration: A lot of policies really depend on the dorm you're in. For example, I lived in Honors and there was no rules basically as long as you didn't get caught. The RM's trust you to act like adults which I thought was nice.

Campus Food: The meal plan is convenient for freshmen who don't get into apartment-style dorms, but as a sophomore next year I plan to not have a meal plan since I will be in a dorm that has a kitchen. I'm not a fan of cafeteria food but I managed to make it a year without dying.

Scholarships: I am an out of state student who did well in high school. I received the Cooper scholarship, which reduced my tuition to in-state as well as $4000 a year. It's very easy as an out of state student to get scholarships but you have to do well in high school. As far as I know, the only scholarships the university gives are to freshmen.

Off-Campus Housing: There are a bunch of different off-campus housing options, but they can definitely get pricey.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

If there is one word to describe the experiences you will have at USC, it would have to be "unforgettable." Being away from home for the first time at USC is both exciting and scary at times, but the freedom you get when you come here feels natural. It makes you wonder why they don’t send people to college sooner! Academically, there are courses and professors who can make you look at things in ways you never considered before. Facts and figures will be thrown at you, but some of the professors (and your peers) can teach you a lot about life as well. It’s also a very cool thing to see laid-back professors who will sometimes move their classes out onto the Horseshoe lawn.

On top of this, with such a large student population, you will inevitably form new relationships that will last a lifetime. As at any college, the quality of the experience depends on what you put into it. There are thousands of new people to meet, tons of activities going on, and things to learn both in and out of class. Those who don’t take advantage of these opportunities will not get a lot out of their experience here. Some students get tired of being at USC after a while, and some hate it from the start for whatever reason. USC is not the place for everyone, but overall, students seem to be thoroughly enamored with Carolina and wouldn’t trade their title of Gamecocks for anything in the world. There seems to be an aura of its own inherent to the University, and its welcoming vibe is infectious.
