Greek Life: Greeks are most known for throwing parties and hosting concerts.

Athletics: Basketball, football and baseball are a large part of campus life, and the school does a good job supporting soccer and volleyball as well.

Overall Experience: My school offers a variety of extracurricular activities for every student's interest and is very concerned about the well being and success of its students.

3 College Sophomore

Diversity: There is a bit of racism and reverse racism in the South compared to my home state of California. It is okay as long as people don't participate in it. Everyone I have come across is overall very nice though!

Academics: I love all Caroina professors! The workload is a lot, and a popular study area is the horseshoe.

Overall Experience: Most professors really care about their students and are willing to put in the extra time to ensure that you understand the material. People really care about you here, whether it's a professor, an adviser, a classmate, a coworker, or a really good friend. I've never seen anything like it anywhere else in the country.

Overall Experience: If you want to stay in Columbia or your graduated from a recognized program, you're set. Otherwise, start preparing for job and internships searches as soon as you get here. As a Political Science major, I was able to get an internship as a freshman - you just have to look for opportunities, and then grab the opportunities when you get the chance.

Campus Housing: I live in the Honors Residence, and it's everything I could have asked for and more. It has its own coffee shop, dining hall, game room, study and community spaces, and spacious laundry facilities. It is also about as close to the center of campus as you can get, so you never have to walk very far to get anywhere. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else!

Greek Life: I'm not Greek, but I have friends who are. They are very nice and chill, but from what I've gathered, the rushing experience is more about your outer facade than your inner personality. How you decide to shape your Greek experience from there is up to you.

Athletics: Everyone comes out for football games, and most freshmen students will attend many sporting events. As a person who never attended many sporting events in high school, this was definitely a new experience for me. I really loved the school spirit and excitement that reverberated across the field or through the court!

Overall Experience: This school is the perfect mix of academic and social life. There's so many options for everything, ranging from studying to playing sports to partying to volunteering and so much more. USC offers so much more than they are able to explain on their during or during their tour! This has truly been the perfect college experience.

If there is one word to describe the experiences you will have at USC, it would have to be "unforgettable." Being away from home for the first time at USC is both exciting and scary at times, but the freedom you get when you come here feels natural. It makes you wonder why they don’t send people to college sooner! Academically, there are courses and professors who can make you look at things in ways you never considered before. Facts and figures will be thrown at you, but some of the professors (and your peers) can teach you a lot about life as well. It’s also a very cool thing to see laid-back professors who will sometimes move their classes out onto the Horseshoe lawn.

On top of this, with such a large student population, you will inevitably form new relationships that will last a lifetime. As at any college, the quality of the experience depends on what you put into it. There are thousands of new people to meet, tons of activities going on, and things to learn both in and out of class. Those who don’t take advantage of these opportunities will not get a lot out of their experience here. Some students get tired of being at USC after a while, and some hate it from the start for whatever reason. USC is not the place for everyone, but overall, students seem to be thoroughly enamored with Carolina and wouldn’t trade their title of Gamecocks for anything in the world. There seems to be an aura of its own inherent to the University, and its welcoming vibe is infectious.
