3 College Sophomore

Administration: Strict on some things that they don't need to be strict about...like why are we not allowed to have people visit after hours. We're in college we need to learn how to be on our own.

4 College Sophomore

Scholarships: Got a great scholarship without even applying for one.

Campus Food: Some places are good some places suck.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Great community feel but gross and old in South Tower.

4 College Sophomore

Administration: My experience is mostly pre-emptive administration. This has been both clear and rigid.

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: I only have a SC teacher discount from the school.

5 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: Off campus housing is easy and a great option. The process to finding a place was easy and I am super excited to be living off campus.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There are lots of off campus options to eat and enjoy. The variety is great and I enjoy eating off campus all the time, especially at places that accept Carolina Cash.

5 College Freshman

Administration: Strictness is very prominent on campus, which makes campus safe and an overall good environment.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: The financial aid process is a little bit confusing, but once you know how to do everything, it is easier to figure out.

4 College Freshman

Party Scene: University of South Carolina is more of a bar scene school compared to a house party school. However, the school still has a great night life and I have a great time every time I decide to go out.

4 College Freshman

Campus Food: My favorite places to eat include Einsteins Bagels and Pandinis. The food is very good and stays within the meal plan price. The dining options on campus are great because there are so many different ones, which always feeds my appetite. Russell is my favorite place to get food because it is the closest to me and it has the most food options in one location.

Campus Housing: Living on campus is a great experience. Many opportunities that living here has given me include the opportunity to make new friends easier, and it is definitely closer and easier to get to my classes. My dorm is very nice and updated and I enjoy living here very much.

2 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: They're expensive, especially for there quality. They are basically rip offs

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: There some decently priced restaurants around campus and they have pretty good hours.

3 College Sophomore

Administration: You won't get in any trouble as long as you're not too outrageous

1 College Sophomore

Scholarships: The financial aid office is the most inefficient and rude office on campus

Campus Housing: Living on campus is amazing though they basically kick you out after freshman year. Some dorms are crappy. It's not too expensive. Housing sucks

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

If there is one word to describe the experiences you will have at USC, it would have to be "unforgettable." Being away from home for the first time at USC is both exciting and scary at times, but the freedom you get when you come here feels natural. It makes you wonder why they don’t send people to college sooner! Academically, there are courses and professors who can make you look at things in ways you never considered before. Facts and figures will be thrown at you, but some of the professors (and your peers) can teach you a lot about life as well. It’s also a very cool thing to see laid-back professors who will sometimes move their classes out onto the Horseshoe lawn.

On top of this, with such a large student population, you will inevitably form new relationships that will last a lifetime. As at any college, the quality of the experience depends on what you put into it. There are thousands of new people to meet, tons of activities going on, and things to learn both in and out of class. Those who don’t take advantage of these opportunities will not get a lot out of their experience here. Some students get tired of being at USC after a while, and some hate it from the start for whatever reason. USC is not the place for everyone, but overall, students seem to be thoroughly enamored with Carolina and wouldn’t trade their title of Gamecocks for anything in the world. There seems to be an aura of its own inherent to the University, and its welcoming vibe is infectious.
