Athletics: Game day on campus is always a sight to see, especially when it's football season and the Clemson-Carolina rivalry game is coming up soon. All that surrounds me during those games is garnet and black. The student section is so great, and the sandstorm truly makes me feel like a Gamecock.

Overall Experience: So far, I am getting to know and love USC. I'll admit the beginning of the first semester was rough, but after attending school wide events, and joining different organizations, I feel as if I am starting to find my place here. I am networking and expanding my social circle, as well as obtaining quality education that will get me to my goals and help me be successful.

Health & Safety: The safety and security on campus is active 24/7. There are emergency call boxes every where you turn and are easily accessible. Police are located throughout campus as well as the city. I feel extremely safe on campus despite the fact that it is in the center of downtown Columbia.

Overall Experience: Professors are always willing to help students. Even if a class is very large, they make it a point to give help or advice if it is needed. Every professor is knowledgeable in their subject or area of expertise. Class sizes decrease as you get further into your major. Depending on your major, class styles vary from lecture, labs, interactive, or online.

Overall Experience: I was upset at coming to my second choice college in the beginning, but now that I'm here studying at the University of South Carolina I realized that if I could do it all over again, I would choose USC-Columbia every time.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

If there is one word to describe the experiences you will have at USC, it would have to be "unforgettable." Being away from home for the first time at USC is both exciting and scary at times, but the freedom you get when you come here feels natural. It makes you wonder why they don’t send people to college sooner! Academically, there are courses and professors who can make you look at things in ways you never considered before. Facts and figures will be thrown at you, but some of the professors (and your peers) can teach you a lot about life as well. It’s also a very cool thing to see laid-back professors who will sometimes move their classes out onto the Horseshoe lawn.

On top of this, with such a large student population, you will inevitably form new relationships that will last a lifetime. As at any college, the quality of the experience depends on what you put into it. There are thousands of new people to meet, tons of activities going on, and things to learn both in and out of class. Those who don’t take advantage of these opportunities will not get a lot out of their experience here. Some students get tired of being at USC after a while, and some hate it from the start for whatever reason. USC is not the place for everyone, but overall, students seem to be thoroughly enamored with Carolina and wouldn’t trade their title of Gamecocks for anything in the world. There seems to be an aura of its own inherent to the University, and its welcoming vibe is infectious.
