Campus Food

5 College Freshman

Campus Food: The best food option on campus is the pit. A lot of variety, including a number of healthy options, make it a practical place to go for food options.

5 College Sophomore

Campus Food: The food's not terrible. Sometimes it can be really good. Overall, I would say the food is above average. It's usually better than what I or my friends can cook out on a daily basis. Also, the workers are really friendly, and give out good portions if the lines aren't too long.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Food: The food is average in my opinion, but rated 6th in the nation.

3 College Junior

Campus Food: Not fantastic food and can feel a little overpriced

5 College Freshman

Campus Food: Honestly, I love the food here. I mean it is no five star restaurant, but the type of food we get despite us being in a college setting is amazing. Also I love Panda and the dining halls have great dishes sometimes.

The lack of variety and low quality of food are the top two complaints by students. Meliora, the sit-down style dining area is the best of the worst, but they have limited hours, and if you have class during the lunch hours, you're pretty much out of luck. The Pit is convenient, but it's the lowest rung on the ladder for food quality. They also changed around the meal plans recently and this, if anything, has made the whole situation worse. The prices also, for what you are getting, make you hand over your ID card at the cash register in disgust. A sandwich and a drink at the Club Express will run you about eight dollars. Many are angry that tuition must be so high, only to be given less-than-mediocre choices for food at high prices. As this happens to be the only half-decent food on campus, it also puts student meal plans at risk of being used up quickly. The cheapest place for food would be the Pit, but here on campus, you get what you pay for, and low prices will mean low quality food.

UR Dining still has far to travel in terms of decent food (and acceptable prices) on campus and satisfied students. The meal plan revamps only translate into confused freshmen, angry upperclassmen, and the same level and quality of food served.
