Guys & Girls: I think our school has pretty average looking people. The girls are really pretty and the guys can be very attractive. But I do think that there is a good spread of different kinds of people, which is a good thing

URI is the place to hook up, in every sense of the word, be it purely physical or a wonderful relationship. Students can potentially meet the guy or girl of their dreams just about anywhere on or off campus—there are no limits as to where you can meet attractive people. URI is a pretty vain school, and girls and guys both want to impress the opposite sex. Most students find an attraction or develop a crush without even looking for one. A lot of students take pride in their looks and want to show off their most outstanding “assets.” There is no stereotypical guy or girl on campus, and there is a wide variety of looks and personalities. But there is a lot of competition. The guys are aggressive and won’t hesitate to go after what they want. Most girls, however, just want to be impressed and swept away.

Love on campus can be a little tricky. Even if you aren’t interested in a relationship, chances are you’ll want some love and affection. It is evident by the high amount of promiscuity that relationships are not at the top of most students’ lists for things they want. As a result, casual sex is not an uncommon thing at URI. Alcohol might play a role in this by lowering the tension and pressure that goes along with conversating with the opposite sex. If you’re looking for love, you might not be successful at URI, but if you are looking for casual relationships, congratulations, you’ve hit the jackpot.

Social Scene
URI students are naturally outgoing and charismatic. Everyone is looking forward to having a good time, and people are always willing to show you one. Students embrace the social scene with open arms. Like all schools, URI has its share of cliques, but no one is completely shut out. Sports teams interact with one another as well as fraternities, sororities, and other student organizations and clubs. Even if you don't belong to a particular group, it isn't hard to make some friends. Whether you meet people in your classes, within your major, or just from the living situation, URI is a social school filled with outgoing students who keep a steady regiment of work and play.
Hookups or Relationships?
Most college students are usually too immature or promiscuous to have a steady relationship while at school. College is supposed to be the best time of a person's life. With that said, most URI students don't want to be tied down in relationships. However, it is not uncommon for relationships to start, and also end, at URI.
Best Places to Meet Guys/Girls
Students of both sexes have a lot of luck finding hotties on and off campus. On campus, students can find love at first sight in a number of places. Anywhere from the gym-if you like the hot and sweaty types-to the library-with your nose stuck in a book. The more social places on campus, like the Union, dining halls, and resident halls, are also places that you can run into your next crush. As for off campus, bars, parties, and restaurants can definitely help you meet the guy or girl of your dreams. Since URI students have taken over the local towns, the chance that you would meet a fellow URI student is pretty much a guarantee. URI is a very social college, and meeting new people is not hard. The real challenge is trying to find that special someone and keep them all to yourself.
Dress Code
Most URI students, especially the ladies, love to dress up and show off, unfortunately, the New England weather is not that kind. The winter months are cold, windy and wet, so students often bundle up and try to stay warm and dry when walking to class. The "uniform" of URI women, or what they most commonly wear, consists of black spandex pats, Uggs, and a Northface jacket or sorority sweatshirt. Once the weather gets nicer, skirts, shorts and flip flops start coming out all over campus. Because URI is such a social school, both guys and girls try to look nice when they can. However, there is no shame in wearing what you rolled out of bed in to class just because you can.
