Campus Food

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: The quality of the food is good, especially for a college. However, there is not much variety. Still, an individual can vary it themselves if they are willing to spend more time and energy to do so.

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: There are a lot of stations in "the sub", however there is a lot of repetition and if one station is closed it really makes a difference. Since the school is so small there is really only one large cafeteria. There are two cafes and one dinner kind of place .

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: There are not enough food options. There needs to be a greater variety of simple food options, such as daily soups. In addition, certain stations, such as the Asian food bar, do not have good food even compared to the other stations.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Food: Not really sure where the high ratings of UPS's food comes from. The "Chef's" Table always seems to be quick-prepared meals that are unappetizing. Other than that, the Latin, Grill, Sandwich, and Salad stations get old after a few weeks. Eating at the cafeteria becomes a dreaded affair.

5 College Freshman

Campus Food: The on campus dining is absolutely nothing to complain about. They offer a very wide variety of foods and a pretty reasonable meal plan. We only have one dining hall, but many options. The quality of the food is excellent as well, and I can always eat healthy and/or hearty.

The main cafeteria is located in the Wheelock Student Center. A variety of foods are offered, including Italian, Mexican, Asian, vegetarian, a grill, a sandwich station, a salad station, and an assortment of cereals. A new addition is the kosher section. Everyone looks forward to garden tortellini on Fridays, and the chocolate chip or apple cinnamon waffles on Saturday. Like any cafeteria, you will get sick of the food after a while, but that is when creativity comes into play. It is relatively easy to eat healthy, unless you are tempted by the aroma of fries, but otherwise there many healthy choices.

At Puget Sound, we use dining dollars to purchase meals. There are different meal plans available ranging from "mega" to "off-campus" depending on the amount of meals you plan to eat every day. You can use your ID card to buy food at any of the on-campus restaurants. Each food item is worth a certain amount of dining dollars that is less than the price for those using cash. Say you want to buy a bag of carrots. They will cost .23 dining dollars or 40 cents cash. If you live on campus, you are required to purchase a meal plan. Unlike some other schools that offer meal times, students can buy food or drinks whenever they wish.
