Health & Safety: Students here are generally good people, and there are not too many instances of sexual assault, and hardly any where violence occurred. That being said, there still aren't many places for those who have experienced sexual assault to get the help they need. P-Safe is pretty good about arriving quickly to help people out, but most crime is just car robberies and break-ins.

Overall Experience: I love almost all of my classes, even the ones I didn't want to take, like Theology. If you don't want to take the class, chances are your professor will be fun and you'll enjoy it a little. My Ed professors have been fantastic and I love coming to class, and love going out into my field experience classrooms even more. Class sizes don't get bigger than 30-ish, unless you're in something like Nursing or Engineering, in which case there may be 50+, but nothing bigger than 100.

Overall Experience: This school has graduates that get hired pretty quickly, what with it being small and professors having great connections. If you prove to be a strong, focused, hardworking, and friendly students, you will likely have an internship/job before graduation.

Campus Housing: It really depends on the dorm you're in. If you're in Mehling, it is really difficult to have a community feeling, since it is 8 floors of all girls and only 2 social spaces in the building. Most of the other dorms have good environments though. Price wise, it depends on your dorm. The newer ones are nice, but the old ones like Villa Maria and kind of gross and unkempt (even though the house keepers come and cleans bathrooms and vacuum). So the fact that all the dorms are the same price is upsetting. Plus, it is WAY cheaper to live off campus, but you have to live on campus if you're a first year student.

Athletics: I don't often work out, but when I do, I love it! The gym is beautiful and brand-new. It is easy to find a machine to use, and there is an outdoor floor work out area. The school encourages students to go to the gym and utilize the Outdoor Pursuits programs, go to exercise classes, take evening relaxation and yoga classes, ect.

Overall Experience: The University of Portland has fantastic programs like Education, Nursing, Engineering, ect. It has the best Elementary Ed program of all the schools I applied to. The professors are, for the most part, engaging, friendly, and easily accessible. The Ed professors are probably the best. The only downfall to this school is their requirement for students to take Roman Catholic Theology courses every year. It is a deterrent to people of other faiths and atheists. That being said, it has allowed me to see into the minds of people of faith, and while I still find their beliefs and faith to be foolish, I now understand exactly what it is I disagree with. Oddly, this school's stance on alcohol is a lot looser than their stance on pre-marital sex (but I guess that makes since with this being a Catholic university). That means that they do not have free condoms in their health center, which is rather stupid because they are SO against abortion. But they will pay your tuition if you become pregnant and keep the zygot/embryo/fetus full term. So I guess there is that. All in all, this school has many ups and downs, but if you thrive with challenge and enjoy having your buttons pushed, this school is for you! I know I may have made the school seem like a bad place, but it really isn't. I honestly feel like I am getting the best education here, and enjoy it. Plus, I've been hired to teach a class next year for incoming freshman, so I hope to make every one of my students' experiences here better than mine has been.

Health & Safety: Public Safety is always around the campus patrolling which is reassuring. Every student is given their number from the get go in freshman year. Also the Green Dot program is big on campus.

Overall Experience: There is a lot of requirements in the College of Arts and Sciences. Kind of makes you feel like you waste your time on other subjects that aren't in your field. Professors really show their knowledge in the subjects they teach. Not all are enthusiastic about it though.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: The career center is really open and always informing the students what internships are open depending on your field of study. Good connections with alumni as well.

4 College Junior

Campus Housing: I loved living in the dorms. Get to meet people from all different types of studies and from different parts of the country. Overall, really friendly and safe environment.

5 College Junior

Athletics: Every student is a huge fan of the athletes here on campus. Great support all around. Athletes seem to be happy about being on the team.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: I love it here, small campus was just what I was looking for. But I do wish, as the school is expanding, they would stop squashing us in one place. Good academics, but always hard to get the classes you need.

4 College Senior

Health & Safety: I really appreciate public safety doing rounds at night.

4 College Senior

Overall Experience: I mostly enjoy the small class sizes for a good learning environment.

3 College Senior

Overall Experience: Many workers on campus are students, meaning jobs are easily accessible.

3 College Senior

Campus Housing: I don't enjoy my dorm as much as I would have other dorms.

2 College Senior

Greek Life: We don't have Greek life, but I think many students think we should.
