Guys & Girls: If you love white boys, you hit the jackpot. The school is probably 86% white and half of them are guys, and I'd say they're pretty good looking. The girls are pretty too. Also the students here have money and it's common for attractive people to have money, you know what I mean.

Guys & Girls: Most people at Pitt LOVE each other! Maybe that's because we all have the same interests in common: hockey, engineering, weight lifting, and (above all) BEER! We are all generically attractive, well-built white people of German and/or English heritage who like to drink a lot and shout at the top of our lungs three nights a week. If this description fits you too, come on in! The water's fine.

Guys & Girls: The University does a stellar job of selecting its students, therefore almost every student is well-rounded. There are many students that I have met that participate in student organizations and really enjoy getting to know new people.

There are enough students at Pitt to make a smorgasbord of potential relationships, whatever type you're looking for. The student body varies widely, though girls are almost always considered better looking. Pitt men have much less to complain about than CMU students up the street because they have many more options available. On the whole, the campus isn't especially notable for the amount of romantic interactions. While relationships aren't uncommon, they also aren't by any means the rule. Casual dating and hookups are frequent, especially during the first couple of years.

Most students find that it's not hard to find a great group of close friends at Pitt. With people from so many walks of life, it's no surprise. By the end of the first year, many people already have their future roommates picked out and have usual places and activities that they do. Pittsburgh is known for being a friendly city, and many are hard pressed to want to leave Oakland. The best advice is to meet as many people and do as many things as possible, especially in your first year. It can take some time to get settled in, but once you do, you'll likely find yourself surrounded by people who you genuinely good friends.

Social Scene
The social scene is largely what you make it. If you want to party, Pitt has plenty of opportunities to do so, every day of the week. Between campus activities, fraternity parties, house parties, and other venues, you can easily be a social butterfly, if that's what you want. The city also offers a good bit in the way of cultural activities and entertainment that isn't school-affiliated. Check local bulletin boards, the City Paper, and online for activity postings.
Hookups or Relationships?
Hookups are more common in your first two years, but relationships tend to happen more in your later years at Pitt.
Best Places to Meet Guys/Girls
Hillman Library, for the most studious, as well as lecture classes (labs are helpful), and the cafeterias. South Oakland house parties and frat parties on the Hill seem to be the best place to meet the opposite sex outside of school buildings. For the older crowd, the local bars are packed, especially on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. When the weather gets warm, you can always meet guys and girls who are hanging out on the Cathedral lawn, either studying, tanning, or playing a pick-up game of ultimate Frisbee.
Dress Code
Every style of clothing has its place around Pitt, but some are far more prevalent than others. Tank tops, shorts, and/or jeans for the girls are most popular during the warmer months. Guys tend toward T-shirts or polo shirts and khakis. During the winter, sweats are popular.
