4 College Sophomore

Majors: My major is extremely difficult, but I know that it is the career for me! I have no concerns finding a job as my field is very much in demand.

Drug Safety: I don't use alcohol or drugs, and don't feel pressured to do so. There are so many other things to do in Pittsburgh!

Weather: The weather changes almost daily. We can have warm, sunny days one and and cold, rainy days the next. It is best to always be prepared and take an umbrella!

3 College Sophomore

Transportation: Only one bus transportation and most students just commute or live on campus at school.

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: A great school where i have friends from highschool but also have made numerous new college friends. They are all very friendly and we get along and help each other out in school if we need it.

3 College Sophomore

Administration: They arn't the stricktest but they are very good at their jobs.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: Its a nice little town that also has a great variety of places for diferent foods and entertainment.

4 College Sophomore

Technology: Great computers that are reliable and are up to date with newer technology.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Its very nice and easy to get to classes from the dorms right on campus. Everyone is friendly and enjoys living with each other. Its easy to change roomates and request spaces to live at. Special dorms do exists for fraternities and sororities, but there are plain dorms for new students to get the chance to meet new students as well.

2 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: Depending on how far you are willing to travel, off-campus dining is not too bad.

1 College Junior

Campus Food: Campus dining is terrible here. I am from New York, and nothing in pittsburgh competes. It would be very nice if they would open up some healthier food places around campus.

3 College Junior

Greek Life: It would be nice if the greek life would increase in size. Campus officials seem to hate greek organizations.

Overall, students agree that they wouldn't trade their Pitt experience for anything. As with most decisions, there are a lot of things to consider. If you don't like living in a city environment, Pittsburgh may not be the place for you. While it doesn't have the feel of New York of Philadelphia, the area is definitely urban. Also, Pitt is a large school—you're in for some big lecture classes and a somewhat overwhelming campus during the first year or so. Everything will seem to get smaller after you've been around awhile, though. Weather can be a concern if you're used to a warmer climate—snow, rain, and wind rule Pittsburgh winters. This is something that you can easily get used to though, unless you're a diehard warm weather fan.

What Pitt does offer is high-caliber academics, plenty of student organizations, and countless opportunities, such as study abroad, cultural activities, and sports. If you're willing to become active on campus, there's a lot more to Pitt than meets the eye. The University's location can also be a great advantage—Pittsburgh itself is a great city that is a positive environment for students to live and learn in, thanks in part to the city being home to a number of colleges and universities. The social scene is always jumping, locals are friendly, and there's always something to do if you explore a little. The best idea is to visit and try to get a feel for the area. You can get the same quality education at Pitt that can be found in many smaller, expensive schools, but here you'll pay less to have a vibrant city right at your doorstep.
