Athletics: The football gmes are great but I havent been to any basketball games. The atmosphere at football games are awesome

5 College Freshman

Overall Experience: I feel like this school is my home. It was easy to get into the groove of everything and everyone is so welcoming when yu first start here

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Campus housing is alright. Many students choose to live off campus for upperclassmen years. The newer dorms are nice while the older ones in the quad aren't bad, but they don't have air conditioning.

3 College Sophomore

Greek Life: I am not in greek life but I have many friends who are. Its not really a big deal but they have a presence on campus.

3 College Sophomore

Athletics: I wanted to go to a big school with a lot school spirit and support for its athletic teams. Pitt football has made improvements in the past year while basketball is always a big event. Athletics is a big part of the school but it doesn't over shadow, many people still don't attend the games.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Pitt was one of my top school choices. I am very happy with my choice to attend. The only thing is that the school is very research and science/pre med oriented. That can be a good thing or a bad thing.

5 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Even though you're in a city I have never not felt safe

5 College Freshman

Overall Experience: I am very confident in job and career placement after I graduate

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Most of my professors were really good and clear when explaining new material

5 College Freshman

Campus Housing: I live in the honors housing and love it

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: Easy to rush. No hazing. Seems to be a good community

5 College Freshman

Overall Experience: I love Pitt and all it has to offer

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: So far things seem to run smoothly.

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Low campus crime rate, I feel extremely safe on campus.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: The courses offered are extensive and professors seem to be accommodating for the most part.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I think a degree from Pitt can open doors to many graduate programs and job opportunities in the future. I know i was able to get an internship last summer because of my somewhat competitive schooling.

5 College Sophomore

Greek Life: Personally Greek life has opened so many opportunities to get to know diverse people as well as get involved in Pittsburgh's communities through philanthropy events.

4 College Sophomore

Athletics: Athletics are always interesting at this school

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: This school has really exceeded the expectations I had for college. The academics are difficult yet fair, and there are a plethora of opportunities to get involved on campus. Hail to Pitt!

5 Recent Alumnus

Athletics: Choosing a college with prominent athletic programs was hugely important to me, and I found that here at Pitt. Some of my favorite memories of my undergraduate career are the times I've spent in the Oakland Zoo during basketball games. That being said, if you're not that into sports, you won't feel alienated at Pitt. There's truly something for everyone.

5 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Great housing in Nordenberg! Everything is fairly spread out though.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: The campus is beautiful and the students are friendly.

3 College Freshman

Athletics: Not bad the gyms are huge and all over.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: School part is very good. Not a huge party scene, you really need to know the right people.

4 College Junior

Athletics: I am active in multiple intramural sports. Pitt offers an array of sporting opportunities, from rock climbing to basketball to Frisbee golf. If students want to be physically active, there are a million ways to get involved. I personally have had no problem being physically active. There are a plenty of club-level activities as well, for students wishing to join a team that lasts more than one season. Also, for people wishing to get behind a team, out football and basketball programs are pretty big, always drawing thousands of students

Overall, students agree that they wouldn't trade their Pitt experience for anything. As with most decisions, there are a lot of things to consider. If you don't like living in a city environment, Pittsburgh may not be the place for you. While it doesn't have the feel of New York of Philadelphia, the area is definitely urban. Also, Pitt is a large school—you're in for some big lecture classes and a somewhat overwhelming campus during the first year or so. Everything will seem to get smaller after you've been around awhile, though. Weather can be a concern if you're used to a warmer climate—snow, rain, and wind rule Pittsburgh winters. This is something that you can easily get used to though, unless you're a diehard warm weather fan.

What Pitt does offer is high-caliber academics, plenty of student organizations, and countless opportunities, such as study abroad, cultural activities, and sports. If you're willing to become active on campus, there's a lot more to Pitt than meets the eye. The University's location can also be a great advantage—Pittsburgh itself is a great city that is a positive environment for students to live and learn in, thanks in part to the city being home to a number of colleges and universities. The social scene is always jumping, locals are friendly, and there's always something to do if you explore a little. The best idea is to visit and try to get a feel for the area. You can get the same quality education at Pitt that can be found in many smaller, expensive schools, but here you'll pay less to have a vibrant city right at your doorstep.
