Campus Food

4 College Freshman

Campus Food: I love the food options here. The dining halls have a lot of variety and options. There are healthy options and not very healthy options for those days when you just need to indulge a bit. I do wish we had some better restaurant options on campus (Ex: replacing Burger King).

4 College Sophomore

Campus Food: There are a lot of options. Dinning halls are great, but the quality of meat is not, so you end up eating a lot of carbohydrates. The drinks options in the dinning halls could be more natural. Flex points are really convenient.

4 College Freshman

Campus Food: There are a lot of options for food at Notre Dame. You could make your way to LaFortune which has Taco Bell, Subway, Pizza Hut, and Burger King; or you could take a 15 minute walk to Eddy street for food options like Chipotle, In & Out Burger, Jamba Juice, Barbici, and O'Rourke's Irish Pub.

5 College Student

Campus Food: Good variety. Delicious food in dining halls. It's convenient to get food anywhere such as at the Huddlemart. There are multiple Starbucks locations on campus as well as multiple ABP cafes. The fact that Recker's is open 24/7 is amazing for late night meals and coffee. Flex points in addition to meal swipes makes getting food super easy.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Food: The meal plan is a good deal, however, if you have outside guests it will cost them a fortune to eat with you. Luckily with the meal plan comes 5 guest swipes, meaning you can get five guests in for a reduced price (I think five dollars?). These can't be used on football weekends. South Dining Hall is great, North isn't so great. However, with the addition of the sandwich bar at North, it isn't so bad. The flex points are great.

In a darkened corner of Notre Dame's dining halls lurks a small section filled with the odor of mystery ground meat, fake taco shells, melted cheese, shredded lettuce and tomatoes-the Mexican food section. It seems that not even this shadowy area of campus dining is lacking in student praise. Notre Dame students are very fond of their dining halls, particularly South, because of the variety of foods that they are able to find. Mexican, Chinese, Italian, and American food are just some of the choices available. And, while some students grow tired of the food selections in the dining halls, they find the small on-campus chain restaurants an equally appetizing "Plan B."

Although you may be able to predict the week's main food choices after a while, the contrasting food sections found in both North and South Dining Halls grant students the freedom of exploring their culinary creativity. Combined with the generous meal plans, which range from 14 to 21 meals per week, meal points can be used at campus restaurants, in vending machines, and for "Grab-N-Go" sack meals. The variety of food at the dining halls gives Notre Dame a grade that most cafeteria lunch-ladies can only dream about.
